Heart burn ?

Hi

Have been on medication since HA August last year and bypass October.

Aspirin 75mg

Ticagrelor 90 mg x 2

Bisoperol 1.25 mg

Atorvastarin 80mg

The last three weeks or so have been experienced severe heart burn about three times a day. Have not changed my diet or habits. Not overweight 80 kg don’t smoke and have occasional glass of red wine. As fit as I have ever been. Did not have this problem prior. Wondering if it is the tablets or anything else

Are you on Lansoprazole or another PPI

Was on lansoprazole after HA and stent but had to stop after about two weeks after bypass made me ill. Not on anything else

You need to be on something! I had similar and ended up in A&E with suspect HA, was the Aspirin causing the problem, put on Omeprazole no prob since. Call GP tomorrow.

May not be lansoprasole but GP can advise either way, or call Cardiologist and discuss with him

Cheers. Have not taken lansoprasole since end of October last year.

Took me a few months before the Aspirin caused the problem, thought I was having a HA, mum & sis both nurses also thought I was, 999 job A&E doc, after several hours, asked why I wasn’t on a PPI, said I had to be, like I said once on one no prob since.

Good luck

I'm on Atorvastatin, Bisoprolol Losartan and solubw aspirin. Probably the aspirin, I've been put on Omeprazole because of it. Consultant said they'll look at changing it at the next face to face consultation after this crisis is over. He mentioned on my recent phone consultation a specially coated version of aspirin which should solve the problem.

The problem will most likely be the aspirin. I would ask for coated aspirin tablets rather than going back onto a PPI such as Lansoprozole or Omeprazole. It sounds that you are intolerant of such drugs, like I am - just one tablet will make me ill.

Thanks for information will discuss with GP when I can get a slot

in reply to gilreid1

I would only swap to a coated Aspirin on GP's say so, they are said to be less effective than non-coated Aspirin.

Always get help first, and worry about what else it could possibly be later. So, get to an A&E ASAP if it becomes severe, and then go to your GP after to get referred to a gastroenterologist. I had the same symptoms, and after months of pain I eventually got referred for an endoscopy. All my meds had burnt little holes in my stomach lining. So every time I ate anything and stomach produced more acid, I'd get this intense burn in my stomach/chest.

You should be on tablets to protect your stomach from the damage aspirin can do. Speak to your doctor.

Have a look at your diet. I now can't eat oranges or pineapples because I get heartburn.

Hi, you need to see your GP to prescribe a PPI to protect your stomach because of the aspirin. Lansoprazole, Omeprazole are the usual drug used. Take care.
