Anyone got a resting heart beat of 45bpm when sitting down mine drops down to this had heart attack and 4 stents inMarch 2019

Heart Rate
For most adults, normal heart rate is 60 to 80 BPM. Well-trained athletes can have a normal heart rate of 40 to 60 BPM.
Factor in that you are on meds for your heart now that will effect your heart rate and blood pressure.
That being said, your md should be made aware and decide how to handle this.
yeah i get it often only it makes me dizzy. apparently it’s nothing to worry about as long as your not getting any symptoms ❤️shiona
If your low HR is making you dizzy does your medical team know?
yeah. still trying to sort it out as i’m very symptomatic to drugs
Hope they can get you sorted soon, but it can take sometime unfortunately
thanks lezzers. it’s been going on since my HA last february and i just feel they keep passing me around different doctors. was told at latest rehab assessment they might take my driving license from me which would be the last straw as driving is my livelihood. i’m seeing cardiologist on thursday and i’m hoping for some action as it’s been going on for too long❤️
Do you have a heart nurse who can step in?
just the rehab nurses but they were the ones who kept telling me i didn’t have angina etc. i know it sounds bad as they did a lot for me but i felt i was just getting pacified even though i passed out in front of them on numerous occasions at rehab class. that’s why i’m keen to talk to doc on thursday as anything i reported wrong was relayed through them to cardiologist. this will let me put my own case across. i’m just at the stage where i don’t really trust anyone anymore. this probably sounds pathetic but iv just had enough. here’s me moaning and it wasn’t even my post. 🤣
I hope you don't take this the wrong way but do you really think you should be driving in this condition? What do you drive?
no that’s fine. i don’t drive when it starts. i take 2/3 weeks off at a time when episodes start. that’s the strange part it comes and goes. i also know when it’s going to happen and get myself lying down. never experienced it when driving ❤️
How are you monitoring your HR?
Use a Bp machine and Samsung fit both give same reading but do not feel dizzy
mine is 40-45. then again it was always low even before ha and i aint no athlete. never seemed to cause any problems,i look onit as it wont wear out as quick as those who beat faster lol.
Hi I had 2 stents one to be done the mess lower it beta blocker and blood thinner and perhaps isosorbide
Nitrate
If worried speak to your gp
A significant factor is to know what your average HR was prior to your heart attack & starting meds? Was it lower than 'normal' 60 - 80 BPM? If so then it wouldn't be surprising to be lower after the onset of meds. What meds are you on by the way? My HR was in the 50's prior to developing VT and arrhythmia & after taking Bisoporol went down to an average of between 45 - 50 at night when in hospital it could drop as low as 39/40 - I'm off the Bisoporol now after a successful ablation & my HR is back to 55-60 so your HR depends on several factors & can change depending on type of meds you're using & improvement in your health.
Yes mine is about 43 most of the time I feel OK no probs also had stent fitted after exercise will not get above. 50. I'm 70 years old
Mine can drop as low as 38. I Wear a fitbit so have a regular record of this. My cardiologist is not concerned and I feel fine. I should point out that I am no athlete either. Obviously I am on medication for lowering my blood pressure and this is a cause and effect scenario. I also have SVT, so I go from one extreme to the other. I had a cardiologist appointment only last week and mentioned my low resting heart rate, they weren't even worried.
Only when I was on too high a dose of beta blockers. Mine would go into the low 40s. Far to low unsure if it triggered AFib attacks. Doseage changed and heart rate back into 70s. If its that low without beta blockers like bisopranol or other 'rate control' meds I would see a Dr about it - do you feel well with this low pulse rate? Obviously if you are super fit it may be a good sign.
HA/CA with 6 stents, prob down to B Blockers as I also go into 40's and have dropped to high 30's according to my Garmin sports watch, may be out a bit but I was told its how you feel rather than be worried on what its says, best to phone BHF hot line I found them very good with advice. good luck.
Hi Judy. May be the meds you're on. My hubby had a low HR (55-58) before his quad bypass in November. His HR is now 45-48. Bisoprolol is the cause so our GP says. It's not causing too much of a problem though. Slight dizziness that passes if he stands up quickly.
Hope you get yourself sorted out soon. Thinking of you xxxx
Hi Judy, I had heart attack & two stents 8 months ago. My resting HB is around 44-47 bpm.
Cardiologist, cardiac nurses & GP all told me that was OK if I was feeling well in all other respects. I started off constantly checking my HB on Fitbit & also with BP monitor twice a day. Now I don't give it a second thought - BP monitor twice weekly & HB on Fitbit only when exercising.
My rhr is often 47-48 bpm. I've had a stent and two seperate open heart ops for valve repairs and replacement. I have a pacemaker fitted as well. I've been told by my cardiologist that so long as I am not passing out/dizzy, I can cope with the low heart rate. So far that's been correct. I can say that I feel lethargic, but it's often question of just concentrating and making the effort to go for a walk or take on a task ive been postponing.
I point at my bisoprolol as being partly responsible for the low rhr. My dose has been cut to the minimum of 1,25mgs per day. Again, the cardiologist suggests that a little is better than none at all!
2 years on from my last major op, I think he could be right.
Hi, I'm 63 and reasonably fit. My resting hr was about 45. It dropped to 40 regularly when resting. I have SVT and it has got worse so I am now on a betablocker (Bisoprolol 1.25mg). I was concerned that maybe I shouldn't take this with my low resting hr. I have been assured by my GP and the cardiology nurse that it is ok. My hr now drops to the low 30's at times. I still feel ok so I accept their decision. I am waiting for an ablation and then I can hopefully come off the betablocker. Basically I think it depends a lot on how low your hr was before and how you feel.
Hi Judy 2208
I had a HA and 6x stents fitted and was on ramipril and bisoprolol but had to be taken off them as blood pressure was to low a bpm was in high 30s so I was getting very light headed. I now have resting heart rate of between 45/50 which I was still concerned about as im no athlete but cardiologist said all people are different and my bpm might have been that before my heart attack. But I still get dizzy spells now and then which I think is the blood thinners.
Hopethat you feel better soon🤞
That's a very low heart rate. You need to review your medications with your cardiologist. Could be the beta-blocker.
Nobody has mentioned their experience with a pacemaker. I have 2 stents, cardioversion for AF and ended up with a heart rate falling below 40 at rest. 2 months later I was fitted with a pacemaker to keep my HR above 80. Following a successful ( and continuing) cardiac rehabilitation course, the pacemaker was adjusted down to 75 minimum. It goes up to about 110-115 at the height of the exercise programme. Sure the exercise tires me out and my wife says I could sleep for England, but no dizzy spells and I feel comfortable with travelling abroad.
Fitting a pacemaker may be a post code lottery, but I would definitely investigate with your cardiologist.
Yup - I frequently get my Apple Watch telling me I have gone under 50 bpm when just sitting watching TV. I have one stent - fitted at Papworth some years back. Meds are Aspirin, Bisoprolol and Candesartan.
Hi mine is usually between 46-56 resting I asked the doctor n he said it was ok given the meds n that I m on
