Hi uk2020. Welcome to the club. I’m 68 and had heart attack and stent fitted after leading a healthy life. I get pretty fed up at times but have not flushed the meds down the toilet. Not yet anyway. I’m pretty lucky to still be here and take my meds. Yes we get angry. It’s frustrating not hearing what we want to hear but that’s how it is. May I suggest you ring your cardiac team and ask them for help. Tell them what you did with your meds and ask for replacements. Try not to get depressed. There is help available. You don’t have to face this on your own. There are lots of us on this site. Take care.

Hi uk2020. I had a heart attack and stent 3 years ago age 55 and still going strong. And there’s a lot of people on this site who’ve been going for a lot longer with a lot more serious. Having depression or even PTSD is more frequent than you think. Between one in eight and one in fifteen depending on the study. Please do talk to you doctor or cardio nurse immediately. Not taking your medications won’t make things any better and could make you very unwell. Life isn’t over - it’s really a new (albeit different) start. Please do talk to someone urgently about how you’re feeling and what you’ve done. They’ll be happy to help you, as we are to listen and support on this forum. Take care.

I was told after 6 weeks I would get another 2 stents fitted. I heard nothing after 5 weeks. I phone the cardiologist and was in in 2 weeks. Ring and make a nuisance if your self. They gave secretaries and they will take care if it for you.

Get a plan. Monitor your Blood pressure and pulse rates and keep a record. Implement a regular walking exercise plan and try to gently improve your fitness. A heart attack is a nasty shock that is a wake up call for you to make changes , lose any excess weight and get rid of any damaging habits. It is not easy and you may well have to have a very hard look at yourself. Ask yourself what can I do to improve my situation.

Unfortunately you are part of the baby boomer generation and there are a lot of you, putting pressure on medical systems and increasing waiting times, so anything you can do to help yourself will be to your benefit?

Talk to your doctor please

I had a heart attack and one stent August 2018

My surgery was 6 days before my daughters wedding I made it but was very tired

Like you I was so scared it would happen again and upset that I couldn’t do much to start with

But speaking to my dr he said the feeling I was having were a form of PTSD

There is help out there and it works

Know I still tire but I’ve been back at work a year and I feel good
