Apologies if this has been asked before but with ongoing nausea at night (albeit reduced greatly by wrist bands) my pharmacist has suggested I take Bisoprolol in the evening rather than in the morning in an effort to reduce nausea.Is this something others have been advised? Did it have an effect please?

Thus I understand. But if say as many as one hundred people read your post and ten percent of them are in fact on this particular therapy and have a similar medical history to yours. Suppose five of them say yes and five no, you are no further ahead. Your medical team however have access to all the existing evidence AND to more people’s experience

Hi Comfycousin1, You may find it helps to play around a bit with how you take this extremely powerful drug, just so that you can tolerate it. After 5 months of doing just that I am stable and well but can only take 1.25mg am. My Afib is quite low rate so the 5mg prescribed found me in hospital while on holiday, unfortunately 'one size fits all' when it comes to drugs seems to be in operation. The nausea and indigestion while on 5mg was helped by taking 2.5mg am and 2.5mg pm after food, along with sucking several Rennies a day. If I needed to I can always use the PIP approach to up the dose but I am now so used to 1.25 mg I have no real problems. No nausea and indigestion any more, so why not ask if you can split the dose, it may help. My GP was very helpful in allowing me flexibility as to how I took it. Hope you can find a solution.

It could be a solution, it is a strange drug and how each individual copes with it is quite a learning curve. Make sure your heart rate does not go too low, if you think it is, especially at rest or relaxing, take a note of it and let your GP know. I had never been on any meds before and was unprepared for the side effects, I am also on Edoxaban an anti- coagulant but have no problems with that thankfully. If you continue to have nausea speak to your GP and see if you would be allowed a slight reduction for a time until your body adjusted.

Thanks, I will. My resting heart rate is usually around 55 to 60 but last night it was 48/ 49 so I'll keep an eye on it.
Everyone is different, but my husband and I both take 2.5mg bisoprolol in the mornings. I have mine after breakfast (along with other meds), but he has his before breakfast. I have no problems at all, but my husband gets very cold hands.

I did use to have nausea but didn’t realise it was that causing it because I was put on other meds too after I had a pacemaker defibrillator fitted. When I first started taking it I took mine in stages 2.5 until I ended up with 10 mg a day some days I do find I feel dizzy but my heart failure meds all reduce blood pressure along with it. I take it for persistent Afib. I’ve been taking it for 5 years. My body is used to it now I think.
