Heart Murmur and Ectopic Beats

Hey all,

First time posting and a little nervous, so apologies....

As of the beginning of last year, i started to notice I had ectopic beats. They used to only be something I experienced when I was say over tired, or stressed (or hungover haha), where as now they are with me everyday, every 100 beats or so, sometimes less, sometimes more.

I'm generally healthy and I've not had many issues so far in life, health wise.

I've been having some tests and had an echo, and they found two murmurs. The Aortic valve and tricuspid valve both had minor regurgitation jets (although i'm still waiting for the concrete report), I'm hoping its minor anyway.

I suffer from severe anxiety and depression which I know won't help my symptoms.

I'm just so nervous about everything and going away on Friday for a 2 week honeymoon but can't help but think constantly about my heart issues.

Do I have cause to be worried? I'm 37 and relatively fit, could be fitter but I do try my best.

Thanks so much for anyone who reads this.

I'm having a 48 hour ECG soon.

Cheers

Hi, I’ve had ectopics all my life and they are almost always nothing to worry about . Stress and anxiety make them worse. I’ve also got a slightly leaky valve which I’ve had for donkeys years. Try not to worry (difficult I know) and enjoy your honeymoon.

Hi Timbop,it’s good they know what is causing the murmur. You should be fine to go on holiday.Do all the things you normally do that make you well and happy.I was diagnosed with aortic regurgitation and aortic stenosis in 2015 they kept an eye on it and I was symptomatic even when they said it was mild.

I’ve just had an aortic valve replacement and the symptoms have gone.My heart is working well now and I’m doing cardio rehab.

I continued being able to do all my normal activities until just before the operation when I felt breathless and weak walking up hill.

They will keep an eye on you and let you know when anything needs to be done.

Been there with the ectopics, have a look at your gut, i have a hiatus hernia and suffer with Gerd, ive had all the heart tests and all are clear so the train of thought is its gastro induced, either hernia, vagus nerve or throat spams, triggers are coffee and and bending/lifting can bring them on, i have severe bloating and belching when they happen.

thanks so much Drummer and glad you are feeling much better. I’m so nervous about having an operation, it’s really freaking me out. Hopefully for the moment it’s just something they keep monitoring. Really appreciate you taking the time to reply
