Hi. I'm starting to feel my meds are causing me a lot of my issues. Has anyone found fluorsimide causing them ectopic beats . I feel dehydrated to the point I'm drinking like ten pints of water a day. Peeing lots. My electrolytes showed chloride slightly under range but rest ok. I'm not diabetic .can anyone relate. Cheers guys .GL .jay

Dear Jaytyson

The way you are trying to replace fluid lost by taking water tablets seems a contradiction to me, what is the point of taking them only to replace your fluid with excess drinking?

You need to contact your Dr urgent over this matter, it can be dangerous to drink that ammont of fluid while your body is trying to get rid of it.

I have fluid around my heart and that is why I take water tablets 80 mgs fluorsimide and 25mg of Spironolactone, I have to limit my fluid intake { no big deal } which I believe is done on weight.

Craving for water/drink does not always mean you are dehydrated and many heart medication can leave you very dried mouthed.

Maybe { remember I am not medically trained } your beats are caused by to much fluid not lack of it? how are you measuring this ectopic beats?

You need this looked into as quick as possible.

The balance of what your asking from your water tablets seems out.

Take care and please keep us informed.

Sry .I don't understand the question how am I measuring them. It's quite a distinct feeling u feel ure heart stop/pause then a thud as it restarts .u can see them on live heart monitors while in hospital but I don't use anything indoors if that's what u mean.i found a fostair asthma inhaler caused them too but I'm unsure about the heart meds. Ive had them from dehydration before as used to do a lot of sport before all this and didn't know the cause first time it happened. I don't know if this is dehydration but it feels like it. I understand what ure saying about limiting fluid but I don't get a return of swollen legs if I continue diuretics and drink lots no matter the amount. Thx for your reply.

Btw I believe they're caused by the drop in BP related to the dehydration . My BP is a lot lower than usual but as it's norm high it's not like in dangerous low ranges . I think the water from diuretics come from cells more than new liquids but I get ure point I've heard ppl with severe problems have to limit liquids. So there must be the obvious connection.. Do u take ure 80mg in two doses? Have u ever had the ectopic beats?

Cheers jay

Dear Jay,

I take all the water tablets at once, My heart is so damaged that I am afraid ectopic beats wouldn't matter to it, You could be right about them being caused by Blood Pressure, another reason for your Medical team { Dr/Cardiologist to look into your water retention problem.

I presume you have tried raising your legs while sleeping and sitting? drainage massage etc.

I wish you well with getting the answers you need.

I often sleep sitting upright in chair .never knew anything about raising legs I assume in bed.

I got so miffed with the probs I stopped taking all heart meds barring beta blocker. Within three days my ectopic beats went from double figures to one or two a day. I've gone back onto one diuretic pill 40mg to stop big issues but at least I can virtually say for certain it's related to some extent.

I didn't realise fostair/ formeterol was so bad for heart either .that was def a contributing factor. My GP didn't know this but after googling it agreed to change it lol.

Did they give u like a number to say how bad it is. Think it's ejection factor. Trying to make sure I word that right. Or did u get other tests.

Thx for reply sry I'm bit slow answering I wanted to have something to add from my self trial.
