As some of you may recall I posted last week to say my blood pressure had returned to normal and my GP pharmacist advising me not to take any further bp medication but to monitor it and if the lower figure went up to 90 and above to contact the surgery.Sunday my blood pressure was 167/126 and I had a sharp pain in my chest. I went to my friends for lunch in the afternoon who is also on blood pressure medication and after I'd been there an hour we decided to check it again and it was still high although the bottom figure had gone down to 103.
Monday and it was still high but I didn't have any pain just felt a bit dizzy. Monday night before I went to bed I took a lowest dose of Ramapril.
Tuesday morning hoping it would have gone down once again the bottom figure was 106 so I decided to take myself to A+E as when I tried my GP I was 48 in the queue.
After spending three hours in A+E which is very quick, they checked my blood pressure bottom figure 99 I had an ECG the nurse said I may need another. Eventually seen by a doctor who informed me I had no need to go to A+E and the only time they would see me was if I had a heart attack or stroke, so I apologised and made a note to myself do not go to A+E with high blood pressure their not interested.
I'm waiting to speak to my GP pharmacist this afternoon to see what he suggests, personally as far as I'm concerned I did the right thing going to A+E .

hi I totally agree you did the right thing going to A&E, and they we're wrong in my opinion to tell you otherwise ,hope you get a good response from your GP 👍👍
I think you definitely did the right thing going to A&E I'm so sorry they treated you like you was waisting there time! 😰😮. Hope your pharmacist is more understanding x ❤️
Yeah you definitely did and I agree they make you feel like your silly for even going to A&E every time Ive had the misfortune of needing to go they always make me feel so stupid for going 💔😢. Ahh hope you do aswell and take care. Hope you feel better soon x
Just spoke with the pharmacist from my GP surgery and he's going to try me on Doxazosin and call me back on the 27th. I'll collect it tomorrow and try it as he said before I go to bed tomorrow night.I have my allergy testing tomorrow for my angiodoema reactions to penicillin.
Be assured there is no need to feel stupid or humbled or the need to apologise for turning up at A&E with what you thought was a genuine emergency concerning your blood pressure. My comment to whoever told you not to come due to blood pressure issues would have been 'Thanks, I'll bear that in mind if it happens again' and if it did happen again and I thought it was an emergency and alternative medical care was not available I would be back down A&E again.
Just wanted to add my voice to the other's here and say you 100% did the right thing going to a&e. It was wrong of that doctor to say that to you.
Keep in mind that you gave it a couple of days of symptoms, even after chest pain, to go to a&e. You did what you could to stay away and only went when you felt that you needed them.
You did everything right (well, perhaps you could have gone when you got the chest pain with the high blood pressure! ).
Please don't hesitate to go again if you feel that you need to. You know your body.
Thank you so much I really appreciate your response. The hospital have just txt me to ask my opinion on my experience at the A+E dept. I gave the lowest score aren't I getting brave😊 they txt me again asking for details I told them if they wanted to know before I publish my experience to call me then blocked them on my phone.I know for an absolute fact if I had attended the A+E dept in my nearest city where I used to work it would have been totally different however I didn't feel well enough to drive that far.
Good morning Noodlesalad. Of course you did the right thing going to A and E. Your concerned about your health and getting nowhere with your g.p surgery. Sometimes it can take trial and error to find the best tablets to bring your b.p down. But it needs you to see a doctor to sort it out I suggest you either ring or go to your surgery and tell them how worried you are about it. Brian

I did speak to my GP pharmacist yesterday and he is now going to try me on Doxazosin, he said there is nothing else left to try!I know this isn't true it's just giving me a medication till we find the right one however he seems to be of the mind that it's ok for my blood pressure not to be controlled when I know it isn't.
I think you did right by going to a&e. not easy getting through to the gp at times. One time I did and was told no appointments phone 111, I did they said you need to see the gp phone them back tell them we have assessed you and need to be seen.I did and within one hour the gp phoned and asked me after a few question to come in and see him the next day.
When my husband was seen in a&e last month with very high blood pressure he was told I needs to come down to 140/90 and if it was 180 or more to contact the gp if out of hours to get back to a&e. Hope it goes well with the new medication.
Just like a long piece of string being passed from pillar to post, very stressful for you and your husband. I feel no matter which way I turn nobody wants to help and are all too quick to say it's not me you need it's someone else I find it so frustrating and I know lots of people on here have met with the same problems.Hope you and your husband have a good Christmas and New Year x
