High blood pressure blip

I'm 61 and was diagnosed with high blood pressure in May and put on Amilodipine 5mg, a month later the meds wernt working, so I was increased to 10mg. My left ankle blew up like a balloon, so I was reduced back down to 5mg and then was given indapamide 1.5mg to take as well.Come September my afternoon BP readings started to rocket.

Came to a head last week, spiking and rising more each afternoon.

Lat Friday I took myself to A & E dept.. hospital, my BP was 189! and was unwell.

The emergency meds dept changed my meds to Ramapril 5mg.

Today, Monday I feel a great deal better, BP under control again

Hi.I was given Amlodipine on diagnosis of high BP It caused my stomach to swell ...looked like I was pregnant at 60 !!was changed to Felodipine which has been OK for me Ramipril 10mg added later and I've been ok on this also.

Amlodopine made my legs swell and gave me really bad cramp in my hips so I was switched to Losartan.

Amlodipine doesn't suit everyone. I had bad lower leg ulcers after taking them for 2 days. I am glad they have changed them to Ramapril. Keep an eye on a cough developing with those as well. Brian

Hi I've got issues with high blood pressure but since being on ramipril 5mg my levels hover around 116 over 89 I was quite impressed how well they work ,worst mine was is 185/120
