Hi,

I had a similar problem with Fluconazole(200mg tablets) I take 400mg a day, The pharmacy told me they couldn't get any in the dose stipulated in the prescription as there was a problem with the manufacturers.

Luckily I had a stockpile of about three weeks supply but as I hadn't heard from the pharmacy after 2 weeks I asked them what was going on. Their reply was the same as you received, go to your GP.

The thing is, they hadn't bothered to tell me the situation or indeed try to find an alternative supply.

After speaking to my GP, he told me that it was the responsibility of the pharmacy to inform the surgery that supply was a problem and to arrange for an alternative dose or medicine which they hadn't bothered to do.

As in your case, there was no alternative medicine to take so I was given a new prescription for Fluconazole (150mg and 50 mg) which I took to a different pharmacy about 50 yards from the old one and got a supply the next day. The pharmacy managed to get the 200mg tablets on my next order without the prescription being altered again so I'm not really sure why there was a problem in the first place.

Needless to say I am now with the new pharmacy, perhaps you should change as well.

Good luck.

Yes, we had bug problems earlier this year - found it really stressful!

If your pharmacy can't fulfill your prescription ring round some other pharmacies to see if they have a supply of Entresto, and if they do retrieve the prescription from the original pharmacy and take it to the one who can supply you. I have done that in the past with medication.

I take a very strong opiate for 30 years of chronic pain. The side effects/withdrawal symptoms of suddenly stopping would be dangerous. I can only take the named branded version so when it's unavailable, I have to phone every chemist for miles around to see if they have one or two bottles in stock then phone the GP to ask for separate prescriptions for each pharmacy. It causes havoc because they usually don't have room to store several bottles so it ends up with 2 bottles here, one bottle there and huge confusion for the GP until I can find enough. One time after managing to get enough, the GP forgot to cancel my original prescription which my usual chemist delivered 2 weeks later. I ended up with 2 months worth of a class 1 drug and the GP surgery got into trouble. Someone really needs to sort out this supply issue.

I am now just starting entresto. I have to admit I am a bit worried if the pharmacy's can get it easily. However my story Is that I got my prescription from the cardiologist at my local hospital. Went to the pharmacy in the hospital and was told I could get it from my local pharmacy, nievly I went to my local pharmacy and they said yes we can get it but it has to be ordered in. This was Thursday. For some reason could not get it the Friday. Had to come from another supplier. My pharmacy is shut for weekend so hopefully it will be in on Monday. But the reason they don't keep it on stock is cost. Its not that they have never supplied it in the past to patients but cost. I belive in America they are 9 dollars a pill and you need two pills a day. So it's going to be a major exercise in planning.

I've been on Entresto for a couple of years on various doses. I have had issues with supply sometimes but my pharmacy asked me to ask the surgery for a back up prescription so I could keep a months supply as back up. I've had to dip into it on occasion but I replenish from the new supply. I think some of the issues are pharmacies can have a quota and if it's exceeded they can't order more. I don't think it's always the manufacturer supply.

There is definitely some absurd quota system in place (reputedly to prevent fraud where expensive drugs get sold on the black market) that means once or twice my pharmacy has had trouble supplying me. When that happens its a case of trying different pharmacies for one that hasn't already exceeded its quota that month. What a stupid system!

It seems there is a shortage of several types of heart medicines.

Yeah, my pharmacy have been fine for getting it in Nov & Oct but the three months before that were a nightmare - five day waits and down to my very last tablet on each occasion. Clearly a supplier issue.

Reading all your answers this terrible with some certain medication supplies! A Boots Pharmacy a couple of times were out of stock with a medication I took in 2019 but then choose another one and no problems so far yet!

That’s good but there is no alternative to entresto . Even though pharmacy and doctors said there was in first place 🤷🏻‍♂️😱🙈

Yes I checked that Jarvo, hopefully there will be no more hiccups like this for you in the future! It's not always easy to check different pharmacies which have Entresto in stock! One pharmacy in town closed 🫣 and I was surprised it did! We have 2 Pharmacies in town and one in Morrisons Supermarket here! I haven't checked out that new one which opened in town yet! But otherwise it would be 11 miles to the next town! It is very frustrating when you depend on your prescribed medication for specific health reasons! I read all the comments and not familiar with how GPs or Pharmacies have to work legally! Having to wait for your important meds is nailbiting! So glad you could get some emergency supply 👍🙏

I take 2.5 mg Ramipril and the outside package seems to change every month from different pharmaceutical supplier! 🥰

My Entresto prescription from 20/11 still cannot be supplied, took my last dose earlier tonight. Hoping to find out later this morning if the hospital will issue a temp. prescription if their pharmacy still has any left by then.

Scary or what???🤯
