Dear mkes26
Welcome to your first post on here and we hope it is the first of many.
My Entresto still comes direct from the hospital to me, is there anyway that they can help you?
Its an amazingly important drug in our arsenal, maybe your Dr can help?
I was on Ramipril before the Entresto maybe if it becomes short down here then i will have to go back onto that, it didn’t really like me, but if needs must and all that.
Take care and please keep us informed
I have been on this med for about 3 MTHS,no problems with supply...maybe try another chemist. ...I find it a bit of a hit with chemists , one or 2 are excellent but ....some don't seem to be on the ball.
I've had a couple of hiccups in the supply of Entresto. I was told my pharmacy have a quota, they also asked me to get an extra prescription so I had some spare just in case of limited supply. I know it's a more expensive drug
Not recently, got two boxes a few weeks ago, but in a pinch, the hospital pharmacy can help in you get in touch with your team
Ask around different pharmacies; the smaller one tend to use only one supplier and get only one brand. I've had terrible trouble with my opiate painkiller being out of stock as I'm allergic to eh generic ones. After 20 years going without he branded one would give me terrible withdrawal but it was two weeks last month before they could get it. Lots of drug shortages. You would have to get yoru GP to issue a new prescription to send to the pharmacy where you find it.
I live in the north east. Our local pharmacies seem to be struggling generally. Staffing seems to be an issue. My local Well pharmacy, my nearest, is very slow and unreliable. I haven't had a particular problem with entresto but did with Ranolazine which they couldn't fulfill for over 2 weeks. I have learnt to keep a stock of all meds because sadly I can no longer rely on slick provision of meds. I tried switching to Boots, just once. Not reliable either, plus huge queues, and multiple return journeys required. I think retail pharmacy industry is not in the best of health.
I have had problems in the past, particularly with the lowest dose of entresto. One problem my pharmacy explained to me is that there is some sort of rationing in place that means once a pharmacy has had its quota for the month or quarter, their suppliers simply won't give them anymore regardless of legitimate patient need. When that happened to me I had to get a new prescription made out and take it to a larger pharmacy. Pretty crazy and unjustifiable policy in my view. But apparently the policy is there to tackle fraud where drugs were being sold on at hugely inflated prices. Anyway I was told that generally larger pharmacies cope better when it comes to drugs in short supply.
