I am 10 weeks from heart attack and having three stents in two area. I am on the usual drugs and was wondering if any of them can cause the following side effects.

I am experiencing quite alot if hot sweats, , I am 55 year old women and am through the menopause and had been experiencing hot flushes but they had finished pre heart attack and were nothing like I am having now. Anyone else experienced this or is this menopause back with vengeance?

I am now in a healthy eating plan and although my main meals hace nit changed dramatically I have stopped eating crisps, biscuits and anything bad fir me but am struggling to lose weight. I am walking fir an hour every day and am on my feet at home and am not tied to my desk as am currently off sick so much more active than I was. I really dint feel hungry like I used to which I find strange. Again could this be the drugs?

Hello :-)

Sorry to hear about you having a heart attack I hope the rest of your recovery is going well it sounds like you are doing all the right things :-)

Medications can effect us all differently and with these cocktail of meds we get someone is very lucky not to experience any side effects

Usually we are put on a blood thinner and complain how cold we feel so the sweats could be down to your hormones as I think a heart attack can upset them or I am sure I have read it can

Some medications can supress peoples appetites to or again it could be down to just adjusting to everything that has happened

If you do not feel happy though and these sweats are bad then I would talk with my Doctor and see what they say just to make sure everything is ok which I am sure it will be bit always best to ask :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

Hello :-)

I know been 60 the menopause can cause that but the Doctor will be able to tell you more and let us know what they say :-) x

Hi sorry to hear this but realize that you have been through a lot ( mentally & physically). Try to relax yourself, mental relaxation is more important in initial days than physical fitness.

Take one day at a time as your body get use to medicines always remember "This too shall pass" . You are doing great much better than me after 2 stents. Keep it up.

Good luck

Hi, I get hot sweats in the night too, the straps on my nightware are wringing wet. I believe its the meds. My hubby is now on Ramipril and Bisoprolol the same as me and he gets them too. I had a stemi last Feb with one stent. No weight loss but for the first few months i had zero appetite,

Hi , I had quadruple bypass July 25th following nstemi, I’m on the usual meds, pantaprazole, bisoprolol, clopidogrel, aspirin.”, artovastatin. I’m 3kg down on pre op weight. Similar to you , I don’t eat biscuits, cakes , sacked off booze , crisps. I am definitely in a calorie deficit compared to pre op. You can’t defy the laws of physics /thermodynamics , if you eat more than you need then it gets stored as fat . Eat slightly smaller portions ( wait 20 minutes after eating to see if you are still hungry) , make sure you’re hydrated. Skimmed milk is good to drink ( calcium for bones to ward off sarcopenia etc). Keep moving , walking , house work . We burn more calories during non exercise activity thermogenesis than any 1 hour gym session. 👍👍👍

I got the hot sweats after my HA;I'd wake up absolutely soaked. I never thought about the tablets being a cause. They caused plenty of other problems. I wouldn't even think about losing weight. It's too early to see any changes. I t oo changed diet; cut out crisps b iscuits cakes etc and cut right down on red meat but not with the aim of losing weight. I was absolutely amazed when the following summer I got out my summer skirts and they all fell off. I'd lost 2 stone without trying. Just stick to your changed lifestyle.

thank you everyone for your kind comments and advice especially around the sweats with the medication. As regards weight loss I have just been reminded by my daughter that I have lost 6 kilos since the heart attack and only have another 6kg to lose which is likely to be slower. I am just impatient.

Hi, I’m 80 yrs old and had 2 stents put in in May of this year. I was actually in for hip replacement which went ok until the day after when the heart attack happened. Sounds like you are doing the right things. My only issues right now is I get so out of breath from doing things like I used to. My doctor never mentioned cardio rehab, however I’m doing physical therapy for my hip and thats been great - I can walk w/walker now, but again, get sooo out of breath. Stay on tract to eating healthy is great.
