I had a heart attack back last June ( present for my 65 birthday) . Have had 2 procedures and 4 stents and recovery has been ok. In my 40s I suffered from a hiatus hernia and have been on meds to control it eve4 since but recently I have experienced bile rising up when asleep ( it wakes me). I wondered it it was a side affect of the various heart meds I’m on ( perhaps aspirin?) Anybody else suffered from the same thing?

It might be the aspirin irritating the lining on the stomach. Are you on clopidogrel too? That is also a blood thinner which is often prescribed for the first year after a heart attack alongside aspirin (which is usually prescribed for life). If so that can be a double irritant to the stomach. The best advice I can give is to speak to your GP.
Hi Robbie I had a mild heart attack in feb and given clopidogrel, aspirin and bispronal beater blocker. I have stomach problems so don’t want to take aspirin . I’m struggling to get hold of my consultant and GP so would be grateful for your views on this.
I can see that clopidogrel is usually prescribed with aspirin as a duel treatment , can it be used on its own 🤔 though ?
Many thanks

It might be worth speaking to your GP. Some people are prescribed enteric-coated aspirin if they have problems with aspirin causing stomach upsets. This is gentler on the stomach as the aspirin doesn't dissolve in the stomach due to the special (enteric) coating which stops stomach acids from breaking down the aspirin. Instead the aspirin passes through the stomach and into the small intestine where it is absorbed into the bloodstream.
Are you a smoker?
Most smokers will sooner or later get the "rising bile" that you report, chemicals in cigarettes attack the oesophageal lining. In addition smokers are about three times more likely to have peptic ulcers than non smokers.
