CRT-D Complications

Hello again.I am currently in hospital after getting a 'pocket infection' 5 weeks after my CRT-D was inserted. I have had the device taken out and am currently on IV antibiotics for 2 weeks. After this time they will insert a new CRT-D on the right hand side. They have however said that as I had an infection first time round I am at high risk for it happening again. I was wondering if this has happened to anybody else and if so what was the outcome? Feeling very fed up and anxious at the moment. Thanks for any advice.

Hi, keep positive I know it’s difficult. I did come across a device a while ago whilst researching things that can be fitted externally on your body on your side. The wires still attach to your heart I think but the device stays on the outside. It was a while ago so can’t remember a lot about it so will try to Google it again. It could be a solution for the short term. Thinking about you. Joy x

Thanks Joy. That sounds interesting! I guess I need to ask the question when I see my own consultant again! They are different consultants on the ward so hard to have a proper chat. Hope you are doing well x

Look up Micra Pacemaker no wires it’s new for people who have had difficulty having a normal device fitted. Tried to add a photo of it but it wouldn’t let me. It’s a 3 to 4 inch capsule. X

sorry correction it’s a 3 to 4 cm capsule not inches. X
