Was placed on monomill to get ready for an angiogram to widen everything. However despite only being on 30mg per day and then being reduced to 10mg twice a day I got severe migraine after about an hour taking the tablet each time to the extent i was in bed for two days. I am.now off the tablet after taking further medical advice. The message from my post is if you are worried about drug not working for you there are always alternatives and you can question decisions made. Afterall you know your body the best and most doctors will listen.

I suffer with Cluster headaches and migraines. After finding out I had Microvascular Angina I was given Isosorbide Monohydrate - it did the same to me. I consulted my Neurologist who said yes it would do that and no my body wouldn’t get used to it no matter how long I used /tried it for it.

I now have Diltiazem and Ranexa as a preventative.

Take care 🤕

Thanks for the reminder, Geoff. I'm fine with Isosorbide Mononitrate (I've been on 25mg for about 4 years now), but my cardiologist started me on Dapagliflozin last year and I had to stop them after a fortnight because they gave me the most appalling backache. A few months later he started me on Empagliflozin instead, and that's absolutely fine. There are (nearly) always alternatives.

Monomil isosorbide mononitrate dilates the blood vessel (making the blood vessels relax and widen). In the heart then this relieves angina. However, the brain also has many blood vessels which also will dilate and hence it can cause headache for some patients. The GP or cardiologist should explain all this. Personally it does not affect me,

So glad to see your post, but sorry you've been suffering. The MI is evil stuff to me, made me feel beyond awful, all the usual side effects, plus it has set off the worst tinnitus I've ever had, and that's saying something. I've stopped taking it. Will be asking for an alternative as you suggest.

How are things with you now? How all is on the improve. Best wishes
