Good evening everyone, I hope you are all keeping well.I was prescribed the above medication, but after 2 days had to stop taking it due to stomach, and back/kidney pain. I could tolerate the headache, and tiredness, but not the gut pain.
I do have pancreas problems, so I'm wondering if it interfered with that.
I know we are all different, but I'm wondering if anyone else experienced this.
I'm waiting to hear from the cardiologist. I'm disappointed because my chest pains eased off.
Thank you x

my mum takes 30mg, she hasn’t had back pain or kidney issues from it but she does get the headaches and tiredness. Saying that, the chest pains have eased for her. She’s been on it for 6 months or so. They increased it to 50mg but she felt very unwell on that dose so they placed her back on 30mg. There may be alternatives so fingers crossed for you for when you get to speak to your consultant.
Hello Quiltingqueen, my husband was given Isosorbide when the hospital thought he had a heart attack this was sometime ago now and until they had done an ECG thank the dear Lord it was nothing but a severe attack of anxiety. They put him on Isosorbide as a precaution and has been taking them with so many of the side affects especially the headaches, insomnia, well I could list even more but guess that you have read the leaflet that comes with them. I wondered what on earth was wrong as he was acting a little odd but when reading this leaflet I was horrified that he and others have had most of these side effects.
Keep saying that I must make him an appointment at our G.P.'s but they have suddenly joined up with another 2 practices and you do not get to see your very own G.P. any longer who knows you from inside and out, it is all locums who appear to be on duty now, don't know if this is all over the country but all they seem to do is to tell you to take paracetamol for the headaches which he is reluctant to do, but his head aches so much with these.
I hope you do not mind me saying about these tablets but when I saw my daily digest and this, just had to let you know that I thought it was only my husband who was suffering with these.
As said hope you do not mind me answering about these, and I wish you the best of getting better, and will leave the other 2 to your very dear self. xxxx
Thank you for getting back to me. I'm now on a lower dose of Isosorbide Mononitrate 10mg, and I do feel better. A bit of a headache, but I'm hoping eventually it goes. I hope your husband gets better treatment xx best wishes
I take 30mg of Isosorbide Mononitrate (daily) and 500mg of Ranolazine (twice a day). I’ve been taking the Isosorbide Mononitrate since November and the Ranolazine for much longer. They have helped with my chest pains and I’ve been lucky to have no side effects. Part of my chest pains were also reduced when I saw a cardiologist privately and he said that the Bosoprilol was too high for me at 5mg and reduced it to 2.5mg. It made a massive difference. Sadly I did go privately because I wasn’t getting anywhere with the GP and the hospital and the pain was unbearable intermittently. The GP couldn’t solve the problem and the hospital wouldn’t see me as I had been discharged. I had my heart attack and 2 stents fitted in December 22.
I hope they find a solution for you. Maybe ask if you can try Ranolazine. Keep going you’ll get there soon.
Thank you for getting back to me, I really appreciate it. I'm now on a lower dose of Isosorbide Mononitrate 10mg, which seems to be working. Thank you for your help xx keep well
Hello, QuiltingQueen. I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve had this reaction to the Isosorbide Mononitrate. My heart goes out to you. I started taking it in August ‘23—I had headaches for over 2 weeks and didn’t feel well—and I didn’t feel it fully addressed my chest pain, but I trusted my doctor and kept faithfully taking it (first thing in the morning on an empty stomach before I leave my bed…with a full bottle of water—not gulped down). If I do not drink enough water, I feel kind of sick and I feel like my kidneys hurt. For me, the full bottle of water is key. Two weeks ago (April, ‘24) I went to the ER (USA) with chest pains, etc. and after running tests on my heart and finding it had issues and abnormal ECG, but no HA and seemed like it was doing okay, they raised my blood pressure medicine double and the Isosorbide Mononitrate was doubled to 60. It took most of the past two weeks to acclimate, but I feel good now. This time, I noticed that the headaches went away more quickly, and I really believe the increased dose is significantly helping my chest pains. I’m not sure if my experience will help you in some way or not, but I hope and pray you find a medicine soon that helps you.🫶
Thank you for your reply, I'm sorry it took me so long to reply. I've reduced my Isosorbide Mononitrate to 10mg only three days ago, and I feel a bit better. Thank you for suggesting lots of water, I will try that xx much love, and thank you again for your help xx
