I had my gallbladder removed on 31st August this year. Since then I've stuck to a very healthy low fat diet. No junk food, processed food, carry outs or sweets. My problem is I seem to struggle to have a poo in the morning?? It's a real effort!! I was on dihydrocodeine for back pain and decided to come off it as it gave me terrible constipstion, and revert back to co codamol which has never given me constipation. Can having no gallbladder make you constipated?? If anyone has experience of this I would be very grateful to hear from you. Thanks very much

I had my gall bladder out two years ago and things have been very unpredictable ever since! You need enough fibre but not too much - I’m finding a handful of raisins and walnuts every morning, plus apples, grapes, whole meal bread and pasta helpful.
I have to be very careful with olive oil in salad dressings etc, because that gets everything moving too fast! (I guess that might work for you?).
But it’s always better than gallstones!
Thank you!!!
Most of the people ive spoken to have had no problems whatsoever with their bowels post op!!! I never used to eat a breakfast, I just had brunch then evening meal. I ate what i liked with no consequences at all!!! regular as clockwork. now I either have bran flakes with raisins for breakfast or porridge. Then lunch is either a slice of toast with peanut butter and a piece of fruit or low fat yoghurt. Evening meal is always home made and usually done in the airfryer, so fish with veg and a few new potatoes, or chicken with the same, i would also have baked potatoes done in the airfryer. I have not had my oven on for months now!!! I dont use salad dressing so that is ok, and i use the low fat spray oils if i am cooking or frying something. i guess it is just trial and error. i am only 6 weeks post op so perhaps it is still early days??
Hi, I have a failed bowel retrocel and piles, diverticular disease and on blood thinners, this is not a good mix for constipation. I have found using glycerin suppositories very useful to prevent straining, sorry if this is too much information but I thought it might help.
