I've had the letter and said i didn't need the food box as i wrongly assumed I'd get delivery or collection slots. Not a dickey. Has anyone any idea how i can reverse it, my daughter is very worried about going to a supermarket and bringing the virus back
Govt food boxes: I've had the letter... - British Heart Fou...
Govt food boxes
Are you already registered with any supermarket for online delivery? If so then call them and tell them you are on the extremely vulnerable list. This should help - it has meant we are able to get slots.
And definitely register on the government website - details on the letter
Sainsbury's and tesco. I can't find any way to contact Sainsbury's
You can get a small order from Sainsburys and they do have a priority list. Ring them. It's a long wait but they are answering. I'll see if I can find the number for you. IT's a special one. 0800 052 5500. That's purely for vulnerable customers.
If you have been listed as Extremely Vulnerable, have you also told your online supermarket and given them your name. They then check the list of names from the NHS against your name and are supposed to offer you priority delivery slots. Otherwise, you should ring your local Council as they will have volunteers able to deliver food to you. If you are desperate for food and have a local BP garage, they have an arrangement with M&S and Deliveroo in some areas and will deliver up to £25 worth of essential foods in minutes. Good luck!
I can't see any way of telling Sainsbury's, i understood the govt sent a database dump and the supermarket merged it with their data. I used to do this sort of thing for a living, it is extremely easy to use providing the matching data is of good quality, that may be the problem
The number is 0800 328 1700
I've rung that several times, can't even get into a queue
Where do you live? Do you have a local isolation support group?
Sunny bognor. We just need a collection slot. My daughter lives with me and des the shopping. She is worried about shopping. If i caught it I'd probably die and she would have brought it back. You can see her point
I heard nothing so I went back onto the website and registered again. I very quickly got offers from 3 supermarkets and a food box.
Before this happened I went onto the Iceland site. It asked me if I had received a letter. I just tapped yes and hey presto, delivery slots on the next three days.
Amazon have also launched a delivery service called prime.now. It has some Amazon stuff but a lot of it is Morrison’s. I haven’t used it, so I don’t know what the delivery times are. A couple of days maybe?
Prime Now is only delivering to a limited area at present and you need to be a Prime Member (£79 per annum)
I’d be very wary of recommending Amazon Prime. I entered a trial run with Amazon Prime accidentally last year and suddenly noticed they were taking money from my account monthly. There was no notification from them that a trial had ended and that I was now registered with Prime. When I complained they just refunded one month’s payment out of several they had taken!
I suppose it depends how often you use Amazon. I have Amazon Prime for that reason, I shop with them a lot, not just during this outbreak, so for me it is good value. However, I didn’t think about needing to join when I mentioned it earlier.
Yes, I can understand that some people ordering regularly will find Prime useful - my son is among them. Just thought someone desperately looking for emergency food might get taken in like I was - although I obviously was a bit naive not being more aware of what I was letting myself in for - blame diminishing little grey cells!
I have had so many falling outs with Amazon over their Prime Service. I maybe only use them once or twice a year so can't see the point of signing up and I don't want their tv service. You have to be really careful that you don't automatically sign up when navigating their website.
Yes, I believe they are conning people with the free trial and then not informing people when the trial is over or confirming that you wish to continue at the end of the free trial. At least that’s what happened to me.
It's all there in the very small print.
There should at least have been a statement and question posed, for example: “Your free trial with Amazon Prime has ended - if you wish to register to continue as a Prime customer, the monthly cost is.......”.
When I complained and blocked their monthly payments from my Bank, I received a letter of apologies agreeing that an error had been made with an immediate refund of that month’s payment and informed that refund of the remaining monthly payments would follow quoting a figure in the region of around £70. That never materialised and any further complaint was ignored.
Very very wary of Amazon now.
Hi Inamoment. If you go on Sainsbury’s website they have a Covid-19 section where you can chat online to obtain weekly deliveries. If not just telephone their main national number and they will put you on to the right one. They have been very helpful to me and my friends. Also local authorities and neighbours on Facebook etc have local isolation groups to help out. Our area has had contact from relatives living in other areas asking for help for people living here.
You need to go on the gov site and register, providing you have a letter. You will have to answer the tick boxes. You will have to say that you have no one to bring you groceries, which from what you have said is correct. You will then get all the major supermarkets contact you by email to say you will get priority slots. You will then get a call from the council asking if you want food parcels which you can refuse but at least you will get your slots. Good look and stay safe xx
Sorry forgot to say the Gov . site details will be on the letter you received telling you that you are vulnerable.
Hi, you need to go on the government web site, the link is on your letter, fill out the online form, name, address is etc, and they will send you out a good box starting next week.
Hope this helps.
Hi, Morrisons are also doing food boxes delivered by DPD, I've had one and thought it very good value. Also, have you registered on line with Sainsbury? They check the government website.
Basically If It wasn't for this website I would have starved to death ages ago. Look up 'Next Door' online. It's free and you can post up a request for any kind volunteers who will go out and get your shopping for you. People have been doing that for me for weeks now.
OOH do be careful. Do NOT pay anyone to shop for you before they go. People are offering, taking money and never coming back. Pay ONLY when they bring your food.
The people who have volunteered for me are superb. Honest as hell, and reliable. I'n sadly loosing my best guy because he's starting work at the Nightingale in London tomorrow.
Ours have been fantastic, too, absolutely no worries, and you can’t expect some people to shell out that kind of money beforehand.
It’s a favour they are doing you! We really struggled till they appeared. Now we have slots for delivery and brilliant help if needed.
Pharmacy, vet etc.
My daughter helps coordinate a volunteer group, and said they have more volunteers than requests, and they just love getting a really useful task to do for someone. Brilliant!
If you check with the local council they should have a telephone number to check you are on their local list. They should be able to advise you. If not register or re register with the government. The local council will also be able to put you in contact with a local volunteer group to do the shopping for you.
I think Morrisons must have a priority list because i looked today and there were slots available at least 3 days a week for the next 3 weeks. All from 4pm onwards. They are not taking any new customers. I never asked to go on any list . I think its' possible that their drivers have asked for regular, housebound customers to be put on a list.
Morrisons have vulnerable and elderly persons slots for essentials & they will deliver within 24hrs, they emailed my husband about it. We rang them yesterday & although the websites & phone message said there were no slots available they took the order & delivered it today at no cost, so I think they hold slots back. We've never done an online shop with them & don't know how they knew my husband is vulnerable as he's not registered but we do have a loyalty card with them. Highly recommend them.
I have tried them all and there are no delivery slots available . Sent them all emails but they do not reply. I know where I will shop after this is over and it wont be any of the big supermarkets.
Tesco usually release new slots around mignight each night so worth checking then. I work for them and that's how I get my deliveries. It means setting an alarm clock but worth it 😂
You can register again or phone your local Council. I got a good box even though I didn’t request it but I have since had 2 texts and an email telling me that I didn’t indicate that I needed the food box but that if I wanted to, I could register for it again or get it by contacting Liverpool City Council so I imagine it will even the same for you. I am assuming that the box of food that arrived was by mistake. Otherwise, I will have to try and cancel it! Your local supermarket should have been informed too. I had a mail from Tesco saying that I was on a priority delivery list. You can’t choose an hour slot but they will give you a window during which time they will deliver. Try phoning the supermarket!
I filled the govt form in again and replied to the email the the ceo sends out. There is no notification on Sainsbury but load of collection slot are avalable, we have tor tomorrow
Go back onto the gov/extremely vulnerable site, reregister and say you have no one to do your shopping, they will then send your name to a supermarket(if you have an account with any)and you will get priority. You might also get a food parcel but as soon as you get your priority booking(supermarket will send you a text) then go back into gov.site to say you don`t need help and the food parcels will stop. This is what I did.Hope it works for you.
No,I can`t agree that it`s dishonest. If you are on the extremely vulnerable list then you are entitled to a priority slot and I do agree with your daughter that there is a chance of her passing the virus on to you.We are constantly asked to stay safe, stay home and not risk spreading the virus so in your`s and your daughter`s case I think online shopping is the safest option.Anyway whatever you decide hope you stay well.Best wishes Jen
Contact your GP. and tell them. You can ring aldi, or morrisons and explain. Aldi minimum order is £25. All local authorities are also running co.munity support hubs. They can pair you with a community volunteer who will shop for you. Hope this helps.
It's all good now. Collection slots are excellent. They have made the closing time for edits earlier.
