So yesterday I went for my needle biopsy, I arrived with time for a coffee in hand and was rather grateful for that (pro tip) if you are going to a appointment at Shrewsbury hospital on a Monday morning, park on Sunday night. After a bit of creative parking on a bit of grass I went to the outpatient surgery department, and delivered my credentials as they say in diplomatic circles. And the really helpful receptionist, and Caz is really helpful we always try to get her (outpatient surgery is also endoscopy and colonoscopy and E'N'T) and over the past few months we are getting to the photos of grandkids stage.
She said that we had to go and see a staff nurse about the biopsy, so we go to the designated waiting area and wait, get called in and find out that I have got lucky.
The has been a cancellation at Telford surgical department and Mr A has grabbed it and instead of the needle I am having a general anesthesia and down the throat biopsy on Thursday morning and then she smiled.
Smiled
So I am now looking forward to A hour or so of night night and don't eat anything after six in the morning,oh and you will probably not really want to swallow anything for a day or so afterwards.
This procedure apparently involves having your jaw clamped open a tube big tube in the mouth and then they do the biopsy through the big tube, I asked about the big tube diameter, she said about 15cm as a builder that is about 4", lovely.
Then I am shuffled off to the pre op.
So bloods, and a eeg, which was fine, in fact normal so well done Mr R then the BP and again allowing for my suddenly finding I was getting a surgery well within normal range 142/71 .
So it's no clopidog or asprin,as if a two day holiday from it is going to stop a good spurt if the bread knife slips.
I am taking the good EEG and okay blood pressure as a Omen, if I survived a "you should have died" cardiac arrest I am going to be okay with the biopsy.
Again they are being really certain at each stage to work with the cardiac team in the hospital, and Hillery has returned to my life, just as shouty and just as compassionate.
So that's a win, almost worth a cancer diagnosis, almost.
I after receiving a well deserved comment about diameter made a panicky phone call to the hospital, it's circumfrnce not diameter, phew.
