Has anyone else had their ef raise significantly in a short space of time.
My echo results came back at 32% so 7 weeks later I had a cardiac mri the results have come in at 52% during this time I had started taking my hf medication, is it normal for it to rise that much that quick or has a mistake been made

Hi ForestUnfortunately echos are not a precise science with EF as it's open to interpretation by the technician who's doing the echo. I believe there's usually a +/- margin of 5 % so it's possible your EF was a bit higher at that time. MRI's, whilst not actually perfect, do give a more accurate picture than an echo.
So yes, it is possible for you to have an higher EF in such a short space of time. Presumably you're on the 4 pillars of meds prescribed for HF....ACE/ARB, beta blocker, spirolactone & dapagliflozin which are known to show great results in improving your heart function.
Brilliant news to hear your EF has improved, you must be so pleased.
Hi Thanks for the reply Yes I'm on all 4 meds, and I am so happy about the quick improvement its just I've not read anywhere about this happening to many others and it's left me quite confused tbh
I belong to a couple of HF support groups & I often see people saying how quickly their EF has improved once they're on the 4 pillars. Doesn't happen for everyone of course, some can take longer, some don't improve at all.
But it's always brilliant to hear the success stories, it really does give others hope that they too can improve their EF & heart function.
Great news on your EF improving. I can’t comment any further due to having no experience of HF, but I believe many members do experience positive results on medications and I hope it continues to improve for you as well!
hi. Mine took a few months to improve from 43 to 53. I’m on entresto, bisoprolol, spirolactone and Dapa. A recent echo suggested that my ef was back to 43 but a perfusion scan said 53. The cardiologist went with the perfusion scan. I think there is a margin of error with every scan but even with a 5% margin that’s still a good result. You must be feeling so relieved.
