sorry if this is long. I had a heart attack on the 9th dec 2022 I was 44 I had 3 stents was told it was blocked by cholesterol on my left side and bad heart disease on the right side I wasn’t able to leave hospital till they sorted the right side. Was transferred to London where I had a bypass on the 12th Jan 2023 but could only do a single as they couldn’t find the blocked artery so on the 18th I had 3 more stents although that was complicated too but they managed to do what they set out to do I left hospital the the 20th Jan 2023 so 6 weeks in hospital. Been recovering nicely ever since scar healed brilliantly apart from a little infection at the bottom but soon cleared had a recent blood test where I was diagnosed as pre diabetic. Recently I’ve been a little more out of breath and feet, ankles and legs have been swelling went for an X-ray on Thursday and the found fluid on my left lung so been given water tablets to reduce the fluid has anyone else had the fluid on the lungs and did it clear up ok just feel it’s one thing after another many thanks for reading so far xx

Hi Gillw1978

I’m sorry to hear all that you are and have been going through.

I don’t have any personal experience of your current situation but hopefully others will be along to offer some advice and insight.

I just wanted to say hang in there and be kind to yourself; you’re not alone!

Keep us posted with how you’re doing.

Best wishes

thank you I haven’t been put on antibiotics just water tablets I think the thing that got to me was they say I have heart failure but the positives I took away was that the heart is still recovering from everything that has happened ❤️

hi. I had severe pulmonary hypertension before my heart surgery and they put me on water tablets to clear it. After the op I had to do breathing excercise as my lungs were deflated and I had fluid around my heart so I stayed on furosemide. Apparently this is common after surgery. It took a while for my lungs to get back to normal but they did. No more pulmonary hypertension. I still take spirolactone for heart failure but it also gets rid of fluid. Fingers crossed that yours is sorted out soon, it’s really awful feeling like you can’t breathe properly. X

i had fluid retention in the Lungs immediately after my heart attack, 2 days after. They said it can happen if you have a big heart attack. But with water tablets, it was gone in few days.

Hi, Gillw1978,

I am so sorry that you have had so many health issues and ups and downs during this past year! You certainly have earned the right to vent some! It is confusing and scary and sad to keep dealing with one thing after another. But it also sounds like you have been strong and resilient during it all!

I have not had fluid in my lungs so I can’t speak to that. However, I do take a fluid pill for swelling in my ankles, etc. in the last 2-3 months, I have had to cut the dosage of the pill, and I am trying to take it only four days per week instead of seven days. This is because a urinalysis in March showed some signs of kidney damage, and my GP felt that the dieuretic was to blame. I go back in late July for more tests. It sounds like you may only be on a fluid pill for a short time so the kidney issues should not be a concern.

I hope that you soon feel better! I can only imagine how horrible having fluid in your lungs must feel. I have been having issues with breathing since my HA in March 2022, so I understand how scary that can be too.

Allow yourself some time to vent, but also try to relax and appreciate the day. Maybe you could sit awhile on a patio or garden and enjoy nature, or maybe have a cup of tea and read a lovely book. This is Sunday, so this evening, I will watch an episode, or two, of Columbo. I have seen them all before, but they are relaxing. Hopefully, your lungs are on the mend so try to be patient and kind to yourself.

Best wishes! ❤️
