Just wanted to update you all .....my husband had his cardiac rehabilitation assessment yesterday,it was brilliant...so much information and our cardiac nurse was great. She is pleased with where my husband is at,his blood pressure etc was great and he has a really positive outlook on life...she just told him to not try to run before he can walk!😊 His scans have shown severe damage to the left side of his heart, plus two other arteries have slight blockages but there's no plans to put any more stents in and everything will be controlled by his medication. He has signed up for the six weeks cardiac rehab classes, the nurse just wants to wait another couple of weeks to give his heart a little longer to heal.We both feel more positive going forward now there is a plan in place 😊
Hi all just a little update.... - British Heart Fou...
Hi all just a little update....
Good news. Thanks for sharing it with us. Sounds as if your husband's attitude is giving him the best possible chances.
Great news indeed, good to hear he is has is cardio rehab classes coming up and to look forward to.
I am sure he will find them of real benefit.
Excellent news. And it's wonderful that Cardio rehab is now back to face-to-face. Your husband will get so much more from being in the company of other people in a similar position, and having the experienced cardio nurses personally supervise his exercises and deliver that extra bit of motivation!
We don't spend nearly enough on preventative medicine in this country, but Cardio Rehab is one of the notable exceptions. The hard truth is that stents and even bypass surgery on their own hardly barely reduce our risk of future heart attacks or strokes, but medication and life style changes together can make a massive difference. And there's no programme like Cardio Rehab for equipping us to maximise the benefits of medication and life style changes.
Good luck!
Thank you so much for your reply....we both feel much better knowing now there's a plan and I feel a little more confident that his recovery onwards will be with the cardiac nurses...who can monitor him but also safely push him on with his recovery.I also hope he can benefit from being around others who have had similar experiences and can draw support and guidance from them.
Best wishes 😊
That's good news. Had my assessment yesterday and would echo your praise for the team. Start my sessions on the 26th. I have to say that although this has been a scary experience and not one I would want to repeat, the various NHS teams I have been in touch with have all been brilliant and I have felt so well supported.I pray your husband continues to improve.
Thankyou.....we both wish you well for your recovery too!
Glad to hear your husbands cardio rehab team is working well. I found mine really helpful in supporting my recovery.
