Aw just looked on here and seen all the lovely messages from you all thanks so much really appreciate it π₯°. Well I got to A&E at about 9. 15 and it was a 3 hour wait π³ was sooo busy. So I finally get called and they do a history of health problems which was a very long list which they weren't expecting π€£. I went through how I had been feeling and everything so they did ecg I was trying to be relaxed as possible because at this point it was 12.20 and I was soooo tired! So she went a bit quiet and did it again and then my brother said was everything ok so I asked and she said well it looks a bit odd π³π¬ and I'm like oh what do you mean by that ππ΅. She said the ecg waves were all going in different directions and I said what did that mean then she said something which I can't even remember I was so tired. So they wanted to check that this was normal for me and compared from another ecg she said she had to check with someone she comes back and says we want you to have some bloods done to check tropinin levels so I thought oh no what if I have had a heart attack π±. They did blood pressure it was 135 /75 which for me was high but they said was normal my normal one is 120/80??? Had bloods done ( blood test made me feel so sick and faint! and another ecg just to double check I was ok. Then bout an 1hour or so later the doctor came and spoke to me and was just going through ecg and double checking everything and listening to chest again ( here's where u got a bit concerned ( they said my heart murmur is very loud and was being checked regularlyLong story short they want me to send copies of ecgs to heart hospital and for me to arrange an echo. I said I had next check up in January but they said ring your heart hospital π³ so I am and I will email the ecgs. Sorry for very long post.
Thanks again to everyone that commented on both posts and gave me the kick up the arse I needed to get checked out!! π
Lesson learned belive me!

You did the right thing going to A&E. Hope all turns out ok for you. If you hadn't gone and felt better today you would be wondering what it was that yo'd had, was it your heart and was it going to occur again but may be even stronger. Now you have some tests set up, which is a good thing to stop those doubts.
Yeah so true Jean thanks x I have sent copies of ecg to my heart hospital now hopefully based on that and what I said happend someone will call me π³πx
Aw thanks for your message hun. Don't worry I did get checked out in the end got there about 9. 15 wanted my dinner first, got home at 2.47 was very long because they were very busy! π But still glad I went could of been a heart attack I am at a very high risk of having one anway always have been because of my heart history so really thought that's what was happening π³xx
I'm amazed they took so long to see you in the Emergency Dept. I've always been seen straight way with any heart issues and the first thing they do is take blood to test for elevated troponins as well as an ECG. I'm also amazed they sent you home when there are still questions to be answered about your symptoms . I do hope you get some answers from the heart hospital, sooner than later. Meanwhile, take care. β€οΈπΊ
Thanks silver tail. I got a message from gp I have to make a follow up appointment. I think it's my fault they took so long to see me I didn't explain myself very well on the form why you came to A&E, plus they were super busy there was like 50 people to be seen π³x
Aw thanks v x sorry took so long I got home at 2.47 and woke up at 12 something still bit tired. I'm feeling ok cause I'm resting, I'll know how I actually feel when I try and do house work π‘π π. Very delayed in taking my meds so probably can expect a few unexpected ectopics today.
You definitely did the right thing yesterday. Itβs good to have a thorough check up when you feel something is wrong and not leave it hoping it will go away. We all dread going to AE. I have spent several nights there, but it was worth it for peace of mind as the anxiety is the worse symptom of all for me. Hope you soon get to the bottom of it. Keep us posted. β€οΈ
Aw thanks so much for your reply. Yeah I dread going to A&E π¬π΅π it's the waiting and the feeling that your wasting there time I don't think I'll ever be able to shake that feeling ππ. Glad I went and I can't really understand my ecgs and I don't think they could either to be honest π. I sent to specialist hospital and hopefully someone can shed some light on the subject for me βΉοΈ. X
You did the right thing, but the sad thing is that with the current state of the nhs. Its the waiting that puts you off. Plus it is not comfortable waiting. But it has to be done. I hope you get on OK with your follow ups. But you did the right thing. The one thing I will say even though the waiting is daunting. Once they get hold of you they are good in A and E.
Yeah your right there they were very nice and considering how late and how busy they were my hat goes off to them they really do an amazing job honestly!! X
Just want to say l think they would not have let you go home if it was serious so try and relax as much as you can. You made the right decision and now they will look after you. I think you did very well. I would have panicked and dialled 999. I get very π± scared. β€οΈ
Thanks that's true actually they were really good at making sure they hadn't missed anything must of asked me like 5 times where the pain was had it moved so yeah very thorough! I have panicked before and dialed 999 actually I had terrible chest pain after washing and drying my hair I know odd? And I got through and they I said why I was calling and they said are you on any heart medication and I said yeah I was and they said well we can't send out an ambulance you will have to make your own way there! Bear in mind I live in Colchester and it was about 11 at night. Like how was I gonna get there in the end I said I can't I don't drive and I can't afford the bus! So I hung up, luckily chest pain resolved but that's why I am relcuctent to call 999! π³π. I didn't even wanna call 111 if I'm honest but so glad I did even if it did turn out to be nothing π x
I think they wanted me to do it because they were too busy to do it I think and heart hospital have old ecgs and can compare with the two I had on Monday π.
It's not unusual to do this, see my comments lower down the thread. Previously when I notified my husband's cardiology team of my husband having been in the local hospital a Dr from his team just looked into the records & printed off a copy of the discharge papers. The last time I just took a copy of the latest ECG with me to show his cardiologist and just filled him in with what had been happening. If his cardiologist needs more info they'll contact the local hospital or the GP.
Yeah they rang me and they got in contact with the hospital I went to on Monday they said everything sounds reassuring and they want to double check the ecgs just to confirm they are the same as my usual ecgs. I had to email them about 3 times for them to even get back to me.
What nonsense that's a perfect BP result, but then you're young aren't you, I don't know what a perfect rate for a young person is. I'll go off and find out.
mine is always this and was told for my age under 140/80 ok. Remember as soon as you involve any medical person it usually goes high!! ( White coat syndrome)
Been wondering how you got on. None of us with out histories should be taking any chances if/when we don't feel right. So glad you got checked out and they have recommended some follow on action. Take care.
Thanks tos! I hope i can aswell sounds like the leak might of got even worse maybe cause the murmur was very loud even with a stethoscope so I think definitely needs checking out hopefully the hospital agree and actually do it for me, still awaiting an MRI aswell so both appointments would be great x
If you continue to feel unwell in the midst of waiting for your appointments, as we know many have either a back log or a long wait list, please go back to A&E to get checked out x
Good to hear you're home. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your cardiologist to check the ecg's. Though it goes without saying chase them up if you don't hear anything soon. Take care x
Thanks lezzers I'm hoping they will just call me and tell me everything was ok on ecg but does make me wonder can't be a coincidence how I was feeling and how the tests came back apart from bloods. They were very vague didn't explain to me what was the issue with ecg yep everything normal but please send to your heart hospital πx
I do find that if you're already under a cardiologist/hospital the local hospitals do enough to make sure you're ok, I don't think they like to get involved! I know the local hospital always contact Papworth if my husband has to go A&E or has to stay in hospital & Papworth lead his care. a couple of times Papworth have sent ICD technicians to the local hospital as it's proven difficult to get him to Papworth. What is annoying is the local hospital won't send any report's etc to the cardiologist/hospital that deals with my husband's HF, so I always let them know myself. Good luck, I hope it's an easily sorted issue xx
Thanks lezzers yeah I was hoping I could of had an echo at local hospital but then again they wouldn't know where to start cause they don't spealise in what I have x yeah really felt like they didn't want to get involved! They just saying to let my consultant know and see if they know sort of thing ππ³ππ€¨x good you always let them know and your keeping on top of everything! Hope you and your hubby are keeping well xx
Thanks hun x i have indeed received some brilliant advice which I took on board and will definitely will bare in mind for the future. I was supposed to have an echo before my January checkup anway so hopefully this will get them to make the appointment this time x
When hubby was last in the local hospital at the end of April one Dr said they wanted to give him another echo as they wanted to know what was going on with his heart. The next day another Dr said he didn't see the point of having an echo, when it was pointed out to him that the echo had been booked the Dr said 'might as well do it then' π³ they didn't do it, so no idea if it'll ever get done! You're definitely better off under a specialised heart hospital. You could phone the department that does the echo's ( I can't think what they're called!) And ask if the echo had been booked & when it's likely to happen. We've done that before now & sometimes they'll get a earlier date for you. Hubby has got a date for his follow up x-ray for his pneumonia, exactly 6 weeks from diagnosis, which is what they said! And bloods on Friday weren't great unfortunately, a quick change of meds & bloods booked again for tomorrow! π€
Aw im glad you was able to speed things up for your hubby. Can't believe they said there was no reason to do the echo. You do find you get different opinions from doctors the first one said to me ecg looks a bit odd so we want to check your tropinin levels and then the next one says yeah ecg is good nothing to be concerned by, like which is it! I wish I had the confidence to phone up and try and speed things along. I am very grateful I am under a specialist hospital but wish it wasn't so far away! I'm still waiting for MRI and echo appointments before January check up. Aw lezzers sorry to hear bloods weren't good what happened??? π’. Glad it's booked again for tomorrow are they repeating just to be safe or did something bad show up in bloods?? X
Just a question I don't quite understand why you have to send ECG to your Heart Hospital why didn't the A&E that you attended not just put the ECG into your electronic notes !!
The most recent ECGs that I have had printed out on the ECG what the machine indicated was needing further investigation i.e. Bradycardia or Tachycardia etc
Hi ya, our local hospital won't advise Kevin's out of area cardiologist of any hospital stays/treatment etc. They do notify the surgery with a copy of discharge papers but that's it! So I usually update his cardiologist of hospital stays etc. The local hospital don't really get involved in Kevin's care as such, if he goes to the A&E or is treated as an inpatient they immediately contact Papworth & Papworth leads his care, albeit remotely by phone, emails etc. I took a copy of Kevin's latest ECG to his recent cardiology appt for his cardiologist to make a note of it. It does seem very disjointed but because Papworth are involved his cardiologist is happy for them to continue
Oh I checked my NHS app they added that a follow up with cardiologist would be best so they must of done something and didn't leave it all to me cause I ain't getting anywhere with regards getting them to even call me. πππ³
Thanks hun yeah I have been I desperately need to wash my hair π€£π. Had a bath last night but just keep sweating this stupid weather is going me in I think x
oh no. Itβs cooled down up north and weβve had rain which is normal for the summer up here π. When I couldnβt wash my hair I got some of those shower cap washes that they use in care homes etc. they sell them on Amazon and although they cleaned my hair I looked like a scarecrow. As long as you are comfortable, thatβs what matters most. X
Yeah we did have a thunderstorm on Tuesday didn't make a blind bit of difference π π₯΄. Ah atleast your not melting x π€ͺoh wow that's good then. Yeah true been nice taking it easy for a few days I think I really overdid it. X
Sounds so similar to what has happened to me previously! Good luck, hope you see your cardiac consultant very soon. Try not to worry - almost impossible π₯΄
I had a visit to A& E about 3 weeks ago had 3 ECGs .1 in Ambulance & 2 in hospital (the 3rd done to ease my worry if I was still in NSR.The verdict on the first 2 was "appear to be ok but consistent with your medical history".3rd was after 2 blood tests "Still a bit noisy but not Afib".7hrs I was there. My hubby was with me which such an improvement on the previous visit of 12 hrs on my own.He said first time we have been out in town on a Saturday night in years. And getting him to sit down & listen to me was a bonus .Glad you are ok and must admit I have ignored pain and advice from this forum and not gone to A & E.
The 12 hrs visit was one time I didn't.At the end of my 12 hrs my discharge said possible muscular strain!I know it wasn't .I call it my heart complaining. It was noted at my last 24 hour monitor 2 years ago.
Hope you get checked out soon & do let us all know how you get on.
That really goes to show that if you don't feel quite right, get it checked out just to be on the safe side. Wishing you all the best of luck Yumz199725 I hope the wait isn't long to see someone at the heart hospital. Please let us know how you get on β€οΈ
All the very best to you! Thought of you regularly, but am not on health unlocked on a regular basis. So pleased your getting followed up! All the very best!
Hi Yumz199725I'm so glad you went!!! Anyone with heart issues would urge tou to go!!! Did they not say if your troponin levels were elevated or not? It sounds like you still d ont know what is wrong?? I hope you get answers soon, and meanwhile if you get any more symptoms ring 999 if its bad or go to A&E if you can bear it. Take care and let us know what happens ok.
Thanks hun. Yeah they was a bit vague with there explanation to be honest just said bloods were fine which was reassuring enough for me. Erm currently waiting for a third call back from heart hospital but I'm not holding my breath π . They also said everything sounded reassuring so that's good, they just wanted to double check ecgs πx
I also have to make a follow up appointment with my GP tomorrow so I think they just want to know what happened on Monday to be honest, I wanna know aswell π ππ€£
