update of my visit to A&E
Good to hear you got checked out and all is well. I hope the BP is being treated if you do have high blood pressure. Not sure what an inconclusive troponin would mean other than they could not determine anything from it. Sometimes blood samples hemolyze. I wonder if that had happened?
Hope you can relax at home now.
Take care,
Tos
been on bp meds for years.. goes up and down unfortunately 😂.. thanks for trying to explain the triponin thingie.. i don’t even lnow what hemolyze means i’m afraid
Sometimes blood samples can be damaged when the blood is taken. The blood 'splits'
Haemolyis can occur if someone's blood is difficult to take, the blood in the collection tube isn't gently mixed, the blood sample tube is kept in warm place and doesn't get to the blood lab promptly.
Regarding the term 'inconclusive' it could mean that the first sample was between 5ng/L to 16ng/L which is considered a grey area.
The Troponin is a little bit raised but not raised enough to indicate the heart muscle has been damaged.
I hope you rest well at home.
I would imagine that any increase ( if at all ) in troponin was at acceptable levels. I register at top end always on first one and especially so after OHS. But never had increase more than 1
You will find it was higher then it should be but this can happen for other reasons then a HT, the main thing is the second set of bloods taken hadn’t increased because that would have meant your heart was still under stress which would almost certainly be a HT but again not always.
I hope that puts it into easy to understand terms. Remember there are lots of reasons for chest discomfort not just a HT. I hope you feel better soon.
sorry to hear this happened to you, Manhattan1. Something to know is that if you take vitamins containing Biotin they can mess up troponin results. Biotin is in most multivitamins and most B-complex vitamins. Good luck.
😂 Thanks and good luck!
