The thing is with depression meds are that they take a while to fully work up to 3 months and also it is common that you feel worse before you feel better
As you only took 2 I doubt they will have even had a chance to get in your system and I wonder as I am the same if it was mind over matter knowing you had taken them and your anxiety got a little worse because of this thought
I do know so many people that stick with them and have really benefited from them and also my Cardiologist told me this med they always recommend for heart patients that are struggling so it is one they tend to use a lot
But if you feel you won't at this moment be able to stick with them try the Counselling even though you could be waiting a while as the waiting lists are so long and if that does not help then you could revisit the thought of try Sertraline again or of course you could give it another go now knowing it is not a quick fix but has many positive outcomes once it starts working
Hi it takes a minimum of 4 weeks to get into your system and normally longer then that to be working, I’m sorry but the way most antidepressants work is things get worse before they get better. 25mg is a very very low dose most people start on a 50mg then jump to a 100mg. The councillor helped me but I like so many others needed the meds as well, I’m having something called EMDR now as I’ve now been diagnosed with PTSD which is partially down to the HT and quad bypass but also down to work.
Hello, I do think we need to allow enough time for the meds to settle, however, having said that I had to stop Sertraline after having panic attacks, and was prescribed an alternative. It’s a case of finding what suits us best. I do hope you are able to tolerate Sirtraline or find a suitable alternative. Take care, Judi
Ask for a different medication!! I've had Sertraline prescribed twice in the past and took it for over a month each time. It doesn't get better and it escalates my anxiety and panic attacks to the point where I can't function or even get out the front door, and there's no way I can work or function in meetings or out on the costruction site . The second time I insisted that I was prescribed Citalopram instead. That causes sleep disturbance and bad dreams BUT at least I can continue working while i'm on it - which was impossible with Sertraline. Try everything you can to reduce the aniety. Try not to get stressed,, get out into green spaces. Be very kind to yourself. Good luck.
