Hi Maisiemoo21, sorry to hear about your current problems. I have bradycardia with ectopics but mine are irregular whereas yours are regular. If everything else is okay it may not be a problem. Here's a good link
You mentioned having a monitor fitted, is that an ECG Holter or an implanted loop recorder? I have just had an implant 10 days ago and it will sit monitoring my heart for the next three years minimum. My heart doesn't have any observable defects and as such there is nothing to treat. But many arrhythmias are paroxysmal, that is irregular and occasional so don't get detected by normal ECG's but nevertheless might be the cause of unexplained strokes which I had one out of the blue.
It's important to have all the help you can get. Do ask questions and they may fire a lot of information at you, too much to take in. It sometimes hells to have someone else there to listen too.
Also make sure you can access your GP records on the NHS app in England . All tests will be recorded and any clinical notes sent from or to the hospital involving your GP will be there.
I have the implanted loop recorder - it's my 2nd one after the last one was taken out after three & a half years. They are brilliant, it showed up AF, tachycardia etc. Whereas the holder monitor didn't as it was only on for either 24hours or 5 days at the most. It meant I could be advised to change medication when side effects affected HR & went on to have 4 ablations/cardioversions. Might not have happened without the monitoring.
Hi Gower's, thanks for your really encouraging response. The evidence for the effectiveness in picking up problems is so overwhelming NICE have recommended it's use. I know Birmingham Trust were an early adopter but when I first asked, last year, my local Trust were a bit behind the curve. But now they have abandoned 7day Holters which I had in the heatwave late last summer, it was always detaching, and I was contacted in January and waited only a month for the implant. Following my stroke out of area last year, my discharge had said I needed a follow up 24hr Holter. I was told on return home I would have to wait 3 months locally. Things are moving on thankfully. Good luck.
Hi MAISIEMOO21, sorry to hear about your irregular heart beats hopefully the monitor and ultrasound test will find out the cause and reason behind it and the best treatment for you. Its good to hear you have no symptoms with it and that you can still exercise without getting breathless so fingers crossed it's good news. I have an irregular slow/fast heartbeat, ectopic beats, palpation etc and was diagnosed with mild lvh, bradycardia, tachycardia and fitted with a implant loop recorder 6 months ago. My HR has been as low as 28 but it sits between 38- 42 at times making me feel lightheaded, dizzy and drained. I actually contacted the pacing team the other wk to see if they had noticed anything with my HR readings which are apparently monitored 24/7 with the implant as I was not feeling too good with a low HR of 40, symptomatic and basically exhausted only to be told all looked ok. They asked me to do a manual download from my base unit and they would get the doctor to look at it but I've heard nothing back yet. My only concern is if I check my pulse with a oxymeter, my galaxy watch and old school finger on my wrist the results are all the same so why hasn't it been flagged up? They have previously mentioned me getting a pacemaker fitted but they need more information/ test done beforehand so it's just a waiting game unfortunately. Please keep us all updated on how you get on and best of luck.Taz.
