So pleased ive found this forum, i sit most days worrying about my diagnosis. My cardiologist is a lovely man and has told me im a bit of a mystery, and my problem is electrical!!! As i have not had any symptoms. They found the irregular heart beat when i went in to have another operation. My problem since he diagnosed me is i think circulation. Although I haven’t had all the usual problems, i have just lately noticed my veins are more noticeable, plus the pulse near my ankle and one near my wrists are really aching, plus ive noticed mussels twitch now and again. I have started doing more exercise which has improved it, just the painfull area around my ankle and wrist. Anyone else experienced these symptoms, as i sit and worry what will come next.

Irregular Heart Beat
Hi Lesley
What kind of problem do you have with your Heart Beat, is it Fast or Slow or just irregular ?
Try not to worry many of us on this forum have some kind of Irregular Pulse either to Fast or to Slow and most people learn how to manage their own situations.
Are you on any Medication for your Heart or did the Cardiologist say he would work out a plan ? Medication is normally the first line of action.

Hi,
Thanks for replying, i just have an irregular heart beat. My cardiologist said he would not put me on medication at the moment as i have not had any symptoms. I told him about the bubble feeling in my legs and he felt the pulse in my ankle and said it was strong. The veins in my wrist are very prominent and my wrist hurts like my ankle does.
Im not usually such a worry bug, but when its your heart and the diagnosis has come out of the blu, it just makes you worry.

Hi Leslie1951,
I am really glad your irregular heart rhythm isn't giving you any symptoms, but did your cardiologist give it a name ? Although lots of people don't have symptoms/feel palpitations,we want to make sure this abnormality isn't going to have an effect on your heart in the long term. It might be an idea to follow this up with your GP, in case they want you to have check up ECGs from time to time.
I am pleased that you feel better for taking regular exercise- that will be helping your heart and circulation. Sometimes, worrying about what is/isn't wrong can bring on its own anxieties and symptoms, leading us to stop doing the things we enjoy ,while we focus on the what ifs.. It might be worth having a chat with your GP about this too, as they may be able to recommend a suitable type of talking therapy to help reduce the anxiety.
I hope I've helped.
Take care,
Philippa
Hi Phillips,
Although my cardiologist has not given it a name, in his letter to me, that has a lot of medial terminology in it, he thinks it might conceivably be tha t i have an accessory bypass tract. Something electrical, thats why i think its all a bit of a mystery, he is going to discuss it with one of his colleagues.
Although I didn’t think my anxiety could cause any bodily reactions , ie;- painfull pulse on wrist and ankle, i took a diazepam last night, and this morning the wrist and ankle have settled down, so maybe it was my anxiety.
Thanks Philippa, this sit is such a help.

Suggest you ask to see and electrophysiologist (EP), cardiologists deal with the plumbing of the heart, the EP deals with the electrics.
Hi Lesley,
Please don't worry - although I know that it's hard not to. I have an irregular heartbeat, too, and it worries the heck out of me on some days. But I guess it's just a learning curve about your body and what triggers worse symptoms than others etc. I tend to write down things about my day that may point to why I'm feeling as such, and then my cardiologist can get a clearer picture of the issue.
Take care.
Hi
Thanks for replying, i like you worry everyday. They only found the irregular heartbeat after they did an ECG. I really dont have a great deal of symptoms. My muscles twitch occasionally, and i have a pain near my ankle and pain near my wrist but only on the right side of my body. Just wondered if it was circulation. My cardiologist didn’t seem to worried about it, but like yourself and me because there is a problem with your heart you worry, worry, and worry . Thanks for replying so nice to talk with someone who has the same condition.
Keep in touch
Lesley
