Does anyone take vitamin c supplements. I am wondering if there are any drug interactions such as clopidogrol or BP medications .Iv looked on drugs .com and seems to be fine . Off course different brands, organic or not will have different potency. Anyone else taking them.

You would do better to eat more fresh fruit and veg. Excess Vit C is wasted anyway.

Talk to a pharmacist who will give you a professional opinion about taking any supplements with the medication you are taking.

It is always worth checking if it is safe for you. Many professionals are not up to date concerning Vitamins. You made a good start with the interactions checker at drugs.com but just to be sure, have you checked some of the others such as

reference.medscape.com/drug...

rxlist.com/drug-interaction...

webmd.com/interaction-check...

drugs.com/drug_interactions...

For most people, if you take too much you get bloating and diarrhoea, so excess is not absorbed.

My personal experience is that I benefit from 5-10 grammes per day. When I feel ill I increase that using the Liposomal form. No one tells you this, and I found out the hard way, that Vitamin C can irritate the throat and gut, especially if the tablets get stuck in your throat. I now only use the pH neutral form: Sodium Ascorbate, which I buy in 1kg bags.

Lemon juice, red peppers, sugar-free cranberry juice and most berries are quick, easy and excellent sources of vitamin C, as well as the standard oranges. None need cooking; squeeze lemon juice on some oily fish, add peppers to a stir fry and mix the cranberry juice with fizzy water for a refreshing drink. 2/3 times per week should do the trick. Our digestive systems much prefer a food intake delivery mechanism to tablets and none of the above should contra-indicate with medication. However, if on meds do take care with grapefruit; it has some rather strange properties. Check with a pharmacist before you add grapefruit into your diet.

I hope you find something tasty that suits you and provides all the Vit. C that you need.
