This is really common when you are on Aspirin and ticagrelor
When I was on both I was covered in bruisers and there is nothing you can do
Mainly the ticagrelor is a gold standard blood thinner and is the main one that causes it but I then thought with every bruise that appeared I knew they were working keeping my blood nice and thin which was helping my heart
If you have had a heart attack or Bypasses as well as some other heart conditions they put you on ticagrelor but in a lot of cases you come of it after a year and stay on a low dose of Aspirin
Once I came of the ticagrelor and was just taking a low Aspirin I just get an odd bruise but nothing much
So if they tell you at any stage you can come of it the bruising will get better if you have to stay on it see it as the ticagrelor is doing it's job or that is what I did as it made me feel better thinking that way x
I was on dual anti-platelet (clopidogrel rather than ticagrelor) for 12 months after NSTEMI. Bruised all the time, scratches bleeding like anything before healing. And often with no idea how I’d bruised or scratched! A nuisance, but only a nuisance. And only for 12 months. I’m now on Edoxaban, still bleed easily, but don’t bruise anything like so easily.
Hello. I was on Clopidgrel and Aspirin for a few years due to having T I A,s and then a double bypass 2 years ago. Saw a Stroke specialist in Feb 2022 and advised me to stop Aispirin after consultation with Heart Dr. Still get the odd bruise but nothing as bad. Take care x
If my experience is anything to go with a daily low dose aspirin you just have to live with bruises, but don't let it worry you.
After my heart attack they put me on ticagrelor and aspirin. They changed my ticagrelor to clopidogrel after a few days as I was getting massive black bruises everywhere. It's a little better with aspirin and clopidogrel but like other members who have responded, it's quite normal to bruise.
Hi i take ticagrelor and the other usual drugs have a same problems bruise at will and bleed from a tiny mark on my skin. My main problem is my skin is very sensitive and i scratch all the time driving me crazy at times' hope when i come off ticagrelor that things might calm down...please!
