I'm getting a loop recorder implant on my birthday and am just curious if there will be much bruising. I'm not too anxious about getting it done as I know it is very helpful but I'm planning my birthday outfit and would prefer to hide bruising lol.

Loop recorder bruising?
I'm not a female but had a LINQ implanted 18 months ago. Apart from the nick to insert it which healed very quickly no bruising. It was sore for a few days but no issues since. 2 months after implant Afib was picked up which led to a change of meds. I found it sort of a relief to have it work and find something. Better knowing.....I think you would have to have a plunging neckline outfit to see the nick/cut btw!
Hope it goes well.
I had a loop recorder fitted just over a year ago, the day of the procedure was fine just had a large dressing over it. I went to a ball and you could see the dressing which was annoying I hadn’t planned for that at all. Day 2/3 the bruising really came out and my whole left side was yellow and black for days. You could only see it though in a v neck, vest top or plunging top. It’s definitely worth it so no need to be anxious. I hope you have a lovely birthday 😊
Hi I had one done in 21 , don’t worry very straight forward process- I had a bit of bruising and some swelling but I’m too skinny unfortunately!! Once it’s In you don’t really think about it - all the best and happy birthday
I had one put in and it was very straightforward with only very localised bruising, but it was quite minor. The biggest visible thing was the dressing, as said above, and the steri-strips, the latter of which eventually fell off in the shower after a week.
The actual scar is less than 1cm in length and 2mm wide. It is almost invisible now - just a slightly lighter bit of skin.
I had my ILR removed in August and am developing an identical second scar right next to the first.
Here's the really important bit: The ILR led to crucial life-saving information being sent to my hospital and a subsequent diagnosis of inherited ACM (formerly known as ARVC). I subsequently learned that I was at risk of instant cardiac death. Eek! So I am very grateful for the ILR, capturing crucial data over 18 months for the team treating me. (I now have an ICD which does more detailed monitoring.)
Good luck and have a great birthday!
When I had my ILR inserted it was just a tiny nick in the skin to insert it. No bruising just a small red mark for a few days and a small dressing over it until it healed.
Hi Yolololo I’ve never had one fitted, but I would like to wish you a very happy upcoming birthday and I hope you enjoy your day 🎂🍹
I had none of the promised bruising or itchiness, and told the medical team how disappointed I was about that when I had a catch-up with one of them There was a dressing initially and some protective stuff painted over it that came off over the course of the first week, and the (very small) scar is still fading some weeks on. Again, I'm male, so it's hidden under a shirt anyway.
