Bruising and Clopidogrel

Hello all - I had a Nstemi last October and have been on Clopi ever since. I know it causes bruising but I wake up often with massive purple bruises on my arms and sometimes stomach. I tend to sleep with my arms folded so wondered if this was causing it but they are horrid looking angry marks. Is this just the norm or should I be worried and seeing my GP? Otherwise feel well. Grateful for any comments or to hear your experiences.😁

I love Clopidogrel. It has reduced migraine by 90%. And I don’t bruise nor have any other side effects. Yes bleeds are a slight issue but I have learnt to be careful !

Hope you can find an answer

Unfortunately as you have said taking anti platelets like aspirin and clopidogrel can result in bruising. I now only take low dose aspirin but have only got lightly bang into something, mostly arms and hands, and I have a large bruise for two weeks, or if I nick myself iI have a struggle to stop it bleeding. However if you believe your bruising is more serious than it should be perhaps talk to your prescribing health professional, although in the end it might be viewed that the risk reducing effect of the clopidogrel outweighs the bruising, but that is part of the discussion.

Thanks Lowerfield. I don't think it's anything serious but as you say, the lightest touch seems to result in awful black bruises. Also identify with small cuts bleeding for ages 🙄. Got phone appt with GP who asked for pics. Going to do bloods as a precaution later this month but think it's just par for the course with Clopi.

I'm not on that medication, but on plenty of others and I bruise very easily - big purple ones, that take about 2-3 weeks to disappear. Sometimes I know what's caused them and sometimes I don't.

Exactly the same Bob - 2 weeks to disappear. So good to hear this is not uncommon.
