More angina when walking

Hi all, I've started to get angina again when I walk and I'm worried my artery is blocking again.

Just as a quick background had stent Oct 2021 for 99% blockage LAD artery. My symptoms were pain on walking.

Pains never went away and in fact got much worse. November 21 had another stent for 99% blockage NEXT to my first stent. Specialist said was a rare complication of first angioplasty that artery was damaged causing it to narrow again.

Now I'm getting pain again, a bit higher up than before and milder but enough that I have to stop and use my GTN spray.

Also since my second stent my palpitations and fast heart rate have increased. My cardiologist said I could take more bisoprolol as I'm only on a low dose (1.25mg). I've doubled this for past week and it is better but I do still get some symptoms.

I'm worried 😕

Sorry to hear you are going through this worry and after having complications before it must make you feel anxious and wondering what is going of

The only people that can tell you are the Consultants and I would push to talk to them again and ask for further tests as you feel everything is not right

Thank you, I know I need to contact him but I think he'll be reluctant to do anything as I've has a lot of radiation recently. But that isn't a reason to suffer. I will be brave and get his advice.

I had an angiogram in January 2017 which resulted in a bypass in June of 2017 this was as a result of pains on walking which was obviously angina.

Fast forward to October 21 (snap) I was having unstable angina which resulted in another angiogram and 2 stents fitted by rotablation (drilling).

The doctor told me that it was unusual for the arteries to be so badly furred up in 5 years.

The reason I have given this background is to say that unless there is another complication such as you had the last time my understanding is that it would be unusual for a further blockage to occur within a year.

That said I would certainly be asking to see the cardiologist and hoping he/she will request a further angiogram to see what is going on.

I hope you get it sorted soon, angina pain for those who have suffered it is unique and you know if the pain is angina pain!

I had 5 stents fitted in 2016 for breathlessness caused by 75% blockage in the LAD. The weekend following my release I collapsed & was taken back in but was told that everything was OK & that I had probably done too much too soon. For the next year I was taken into hospital, on average once per month, for similar collapses or near-to events. On the last visit, when I was again about to be discharged by a junior doctor in A&E, my wife dug in and said that she refused. I was then referred to a consultant who specialised in difficult cases to diagnose. After lots of tests it was finally discovered that a stent had been missed. That was fitted in 2017 & I have been fine since. Good luck.

I got heart attack on Thursday 23rd july 2020 and daignosed heart bypass surgery which i did not but taking alupathic treatment for 30 months my problem was just short of breath on walking with chest congestion. While heart ejection fraction is 35 to 38%.

Hi Lucy,I had 2 separate stents ,few weeks apart,over 15 months now,some chest pains can be anxiety related, so you can go round in circles with treatments,also you have to be proactive with amount and which meds to take,I'm on 5 my bisoparil,

Tryalso to give it time to settle ,if still having problems try push for further scan or other tests
