More frequent Angina pain!

Hi all, I have AFib, episodes now more frequent. Angina pain getting much worse coinciding with AFib episodes and activity. A while back I was prescribed nitrates which caused severe migraine headaches along with visual disturbances on a daily basis which really impacted my life. Literally, i could not function. Felt like I was having TIAs. Have suffered with migraine/aura since I was 9 yrs old but apart from occasional flare up I stopped having them about 30 years ago. On nitrates, migraine attacks, returned with a vengence. j

Recently I was referred to a neurologist. He claimed type of migraine I have had since a very early age is now classed as neurological disease and vessels in brain have been weakened so much so that nitrates are not suitable to treat my Angina pain so he advised GP not to prescribe them.

Neurologist explained that the neurological disease I have actually affects, blood vessels in brain, heart and digestive tract and elsewhere in the body causing an array of symptoms along with sensitivity to a variety of medications. Honestly, when it comes to medication, doctors have actually written that I was difficult patient, suspicious of medication...now I know why I was suspicious....some meds had me feeling much worse and I would stop taking them.

With no treatment for angina pain, i am stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Question is: Does anyone know of a medication to treat angina pain that is not a nitrate?

Really would appreciate some feedback.

I suggest you talk to the BHF Heart Helpline nurse

bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

or perhaps your local pharmacist.

I have no other option so i need to trial them for angina pain. Im well aware of docs presscibing meds willy nilly.... one pill fits all scenario. Cardio meds in the past have messed me up good style....im a much cautious person now, even been referred to in my medical notes, as " suspicious of mefication". So if i was prescibed this mefication at 500mcg twice a day i know i would only take 250mcg twice daily to ser if angina pain eases.
