Hi I'm due to come off clopidogrel next month after my second stent was fitted in November 2022.
I have just had a back procedure and had to come off clopidogrel for 7 days prior and 5 days off it I started to get angina. It lasted 3 days then stopped (as I went back on clopidogrel after the op on day 8).
I want to come off it but I'm so anxious that I'm going to go back to having angina and that maybe something is wrong again.
My second blockage was next to my first stent and was 'unlucky ' - the artery was damaged when putting in the first stent.
I'm very lucky and have private medical insurance through work so I have a review next month but my ECGs and echos are always normal (even when I had the blockages!)
I'm not sure why I'm posting, maybe for reassurance or advice.

My understanding is that Clopidogrel is a an anti platelet which is intended to inhibit blood clots forming. In my non expert view that is unrelated to you having angina. So if your angina returns I suggest you discuss this with your GP as there may be other reasons for it, but if you experience serious unexpected chest pains at any time call 999.
Clopidogrel is an anti platelet, which means it also thins the blood, it maybe this thinning action that is allowing the blood to flow with less viscosity, through your Cardio vascular system, think clear water compared to sludge moving through a pipe, try not to panic there are so many medicines available for angina, I am sure you will work with your doctor to get this sorted, or you could ask to stay on Clopidogrel long term
I had a stent at Xmas. Still get chest pain that I am sure is heart related . It's not terrible but there. Contracted the GP twice and was told to go straight to a and e. They did ecgs and blood tests and told me nothing wrong and to go home. Don't know what to do now so mainly just ignore it.
