Hello. Driving me mad at night and when moving .. only need to turn over in beds and it goes mad ….been going on a while, I’ve had scans and show 20% stenosis plaque in Carotid Artery under ENT. Consultant has said it’s quite normal for that age to have that percentage and that age most people would have that. But she would like me to be referred to Vascular.
In the mean time my gp felt that was over the top and discussed statins and dispersible aspirin which had been for 6 months .. chol was 6.9 now 3.3 father had bypass at 60 yrs old … I’ve now had a letter through saying I’m being referred ( I didn’t ask).
Anyone else has this situation ?
thanks x

not sure how it relates to yours but I too suffer from quite bad tinnitus have age related hearing loss and have 2 hearing aids. Also have ischemic heart disease Crohn’s and asthma lol but I have been told by ent that tinnitus can be related to how poorly you are! Gets worse when body is under stress these days it seems to be in my case a bit of an early warning system know when my tinnitus gets worse, gonna have a worse day! But you really need to talk to ent about this as it may well be totally unrelated to your other ailments 🙂 I recently just had an mri scan of my head think it’s empty 😀 but they were looking to see if something is pressing on a nerve nr my ear so as yours gets worse when you turn over it may be something similar but get it checked out with ent they are the peeps for that 🙂
thanks but ENT have done all the checks they can …hence I’m now being referred to Vascular as ENT have thoroughly done their checks with scans etc and as I said only found 20% plaque…but she said this could be affecting my blood flow hence the pulsatile tinnitus… father had heart disease so I may be relieved to go to vascular just to get it all re checked
ah ok sympathise with you at times it’s incessant! Always worse for me in morning and when am under weather 🙂 as you say does seem to go hand in hand with blood pressure as mine sometimes pulses? In time with me pulse but not always? Mine is there 24/7 tho so you just get used to it 🤷♂️
I have pulsatile tinnitus and I couldn't sleep because of it. I tried a head band with speakers so I could use an app on my iPhone to hear any of a number of sounds. I like rain the best and it worked when my pulsatile tinnitus wasn't too loud, but I didn't like wearing it. I got a prescription for ambien which knocked me out and I was able to sleep but can't take it every day. I then tried melatonin which dulled the sounds and allowed me to sleep and I now use it on days I can't take ambien.
