For the last twelve months I have been taking entresto, eplerenone, dapagliflozin and bisoprolol the combination of which have been of huge benefit. However one thing I have noticed over that period is the arrival of tinnitus. Am I alone in this?

Tinnitus
Dear Annaelizabeth
I’ve reposted my reply to someone else’s question on tinnitus with the hope that it can be of help to you
Yes I do suffer with tinnitus, both ears , { well the middle of my head to be honest } high pitched and have done for years after being given cisplatin for cancer many moons ago.
My tinnitus does not change at all, but after I came around from the bypass surgery it had gone! I told a few people who weren’t that interested and who could blame them, they were saving my life and I was going on about ringing in my ear!
Slowly the tinnitus came back and soon was at its normal level. I am on aspirin but very small dose and some of the other drugs you are on.
I would contact the DR if you can tie your increased tinnitus down to the medication then Im sure they can help you, what about having a word with your pharmacist? I found mine incredibly knowledgeable over side effects of medication.
I was lucky that years ago I was offered many things to manage the condition, I had a white noise generator by my bed and even tried special headphones, they all worked, the only problem i had was when I stopped using them the tinnitus seemed a lot worse.
So I went down the excepting route and hypnotherapy {now thats another story} really helped.
I hope that you find answers to your problem
Please let us know
I certainly will, this is something relatively new to me inasmuch as the realisation that I have permanent ringing in my ears has crept up. If it is the meds, there will be no way around it as any change would be out of the question. Thank you for your reply.
Have you had the virus one cannot mention? /Since having it early autumn I have had intermittent hearing problems and tinnitus that didn't improve much after micro-suction treatment. I have come across a number of similar cases.
It just may not be related to your heart or medication. I suffer quite badly and use hearing aids, but can't sleep in them. From my research, there is no cure and little will alleviate the condition. Background noise helps to drown it out. And being busy with something takes your mind off it.
Loud noises can cause it. My tinnitus is a roundabout story. I had scarlet fever which caused nerve deafness in one ear. Some time later my husband was using a jackhammer when building an extension to our house. At the same time the council men were kerbing the road outside. Anyway, I woke up in the morning with it in my deaf ear. I still have it many years later but have learned to ignore it most of the time.
I have had tinnitus in what seems to be both ears for many years. It is a high pitched hiss. It gets worse sometimes if I am exposed to a loud noise but then lessens after a few hours. I have no idea what caused it to come on but it could be related to the medication I take since some of those I have taken for over 20 years. All that said it doesn't cause me any problems, I only notice it when I think about it. Perhaps that's the key to dealing with it. Accept you have it, relax and forget about it, and although it won't go away, you will learn to tolerate it and then it won't interfere with your life.
I think you are absolutely right - how frustrating...
My tinnitus started about 6 months after being diagnosed with PAF. I was prescribed Amiodarone and bisoprolol for the PAF and I suspect one of these products was the culprit. Can't prove it but too much of a coincidence to ignore. After the initial panic that I would have this ringing in my ears for the rest of my life, I have learned to live with it and my brain seems to ignore it most of the time. Just writing this reply makes me super aware of the tinnitus, so need to move on and think of something else !!
Yes I posted recently about tinnitus. Mine started about 15 years ago when I started statins. It has recently been a lot more invasive and hard to ignore.Im using drops at the mo then syringing my ears to see if this helps but I doubt it.Its a horrible unseen affliction .
I had a hearing test yesterday and was asked if i Get tinnitus. I had to stop and think. Yes I do; it's a very high pitched whining noise but if I don't think about it I don' t notice it. Just reading your post made me aware of it but if I get occupied by something else I know I won't hear it.
Hello Annaelizabeth,
I also take Entresto and Eplerenone daily. I used to take Bisoprolol but was switched to Nebivolol. Taking the tablets daily has resulted in a massive improvement in my condition & I have NOT experienced any adverse effects such as tinnitus. My Consultant & Heart Nurse Specialist spent over months getting me used to taking this medication, often starting at low dosage & slowly increasing it over time, particularly the Entresto. I am now on the maximum recommended dosage of 400mg/day.
Interesting, thank you for the reply.
I had Tinnitus since 2006 I will be blunt there is no cure for this dreadful disease. But I wish you well and a fruitful life
Kind regards
Andy
Hello Anna,
I also take Entresto, bisoprol, eperlnone, apixiban, clodgregel, furosemide and tadalfil. (Excuse the spelling) I also have experienced Tinnitus since my army days 20 years ago everyday but have noticed it to be worse since my heart failure was diagnosed. As inconvenient as it is and unless its come on suddenly with other symptoms then I wouldn't worry to much about it. But I have recently started sleeping with a brown noise or white noise video from youtube and this works brilliantly for blocking out the ringing.
I also have health anxiety so i do notice symptoms more, but most are just normal sensations. The less you worry about things, the better your health appears to be.
Thank you - think I just have to get on with it.
Hi - did you know that if you have Amazon Alexa or similar that you can get white noise for free? I have tinnitus and it certainly helps me to sleep.
Thank you, some days I don't notice it and at other times it drives me nuts!
Hello Anna. YES. i am on exaclty the same drugs and have real bad tinnitus from this. Although i already had this from the days in the army, this has got much worse over the last 6 months, especially as they increased entresto and introuduced Dapa. I am wondering though how are you getting on with this coctail of drugs?
