4 stent fitted on 6 weeks ago,I am

metroprol -12.5 twice a day, 40mg rosuvastatin once a day, aspirin 100mg and ticagrelor 90 mg once a day . Last blood result everything was normal except my vitamin D was slightly low.

since last few days I feel muscle pain randomly across my body,if I stretch armi either feel on arm, shoulder or back ...it can be many different places. I also get some pain between rib cage muscle closes to stomach area and also right side of chest , I can feel the pain while I press with my fingers, and occasionally belching.

i asked my cardiologist during follow up she insisted it can't be medicine side effects and ask me to continue medicine. I went to see GP and he asked me to take magnesium and it may help. last blood results magnesium was good, now some saying while I am on heart medicinei i can't take magnesium supplements. My cardio appointment only in 2 months ..only available. I do not know what to do, my GP says I need to ask this question to cardio

did. Anyone had a similar issues,if so how did you resolved that. is it ok to take magnesium while on above medicine. It's been such a rollercoaster , I feel normal while exercising or walking , while walking sometime I feel pain on lower leg.

My bp and heart rate seems tobe okay and my cholesterol is 2.1

Quite a few things in that!

We all need magnesium, and unfortunately many are deficient in it. The main sources of magnesium are vegetables and due to soil quality depletion over decades of intensive farming, we don't get as much magnesium as we perhaps evolved to need. Blood tests are an unreliable way of checking magnesium levels. Also I only recently discovered that certain heart events can deplete magnesium levels significantly.

Personally I would take magnesium supplements but I react badly to them. Instead I do the odd magnesium foot soak and eat plenty of pumpkin seeds which are packed with magnesium. It can take months to fix a magnesium deficiency, but by doing this I noticed improvements in some long standing muscle and joint pain within a few days of this regime.

You highlight vitamin D is low, this is easily fixed. But be aware that the body utilises magnesium to process vitamin D.

Your cardiologist is wrong to rule out medications causing your muscle pain. All medications have side effects and everyone experiences them in their own way. Statins work by interrupting a pathway that produces LDL, but this pathway is also responsible for production of CoQ10, which is important for healthy muscle function. This is why some people experience muscle pains on statins. I'm not saying it is the statins though, it could be one of the other medications, low magnesium levels, or some combination.

I hope you get it sorted, and your GP may be a better port of call than the cardiologist.

thanks AlfredV, I took magnesium one day and stopped hearing I was not supposed to take with all the medicine I am on at the moment. I have rehab on Tuesday and I may get some answer from cardiac nurses. Yes been taking vitamin D , since on medication I feel I start getting vitamin D deficiency.

yes, I took take pumpkin/ sunflower seeds daily I do not know if that be enough for daily intake. Other thing I need to look at it is Coq10 something I see all over the forum.

i am bit confused is that a deficiency or any one of the medicine that I am currently on having all this muscular pain

My cardiologist reckons if pain all over your body can't me medicine ..wit statin it's usually around neck shoulder and hip. Yes I need to sort this out soon, my GP seems to say need to ask your cardiologist who I am not seeing for 2 months only available appointment. Other end don't wanted to risk it andtake anything without consulting Dr.

thank you again for your response.

stenting is an invasive procedure. It is quite possible that you have some bruising and it’s coming. A paracetamol might help. It did for me!

yes, I had a stretch pain for a while. The type of muscle pain I am getting is very random.

it has been 6 weeks since my stent, I am still getting this different pain on my chest..between lower ribs...neck .arm..random areas.. cardiologist says shouldn't last more than 1 weeks during follow up. While forum cardiac nurses says otherwise . I get very localised short of sharp but not so intense pain occasionally on left side of chest ...some time around lower ribs both left and

The first and simplest thing to try would be to stop your s tatin for 4 weeks to see if that makes a difference. That's what my GP suggested to me. It didn't alter my pain so I started it again. Your cholesterol seems good so you could maybe ask him. It would at least rule out one possible cause.
