Beta70 has asked a good question "What day is it on"?
As it stands I cannot make Sunday as I have surprise visitors - they decided not to make it to much of a surprise in case I had finally got myself a turbocharged mobility scooter and was going for an M25 lap record!
So could you indicate your preference for Saturday or Monday. Remember it will run from about 2:00 till sunset. Beta70 has also suggested you let others know what you will be bringing along. And please no more arguments about cream teas!

Hi MichaelJH, I can do either of those days, I just need to stock up on non Alcoholic Gin and I may need to get some more Pimms depending on the weather, and which fruit to put in the Pimms is another thing to consider. So much prep πππ€π€
Monday would be good for me as I'm busy sat & sun & will be able to dip in & out on Monday! Could the cream tea fight turn into a bun fight I wonder π€ Enjoy your surprise visit on Sunday, have you practiced your 'I'm so surprised ' look enough that it'll seem genuine??
Oh perleeeese we have standards you know! I'll not wear the Gucci watch in case it gets creamed!! Ps: I did once own a watch that was made by an incredibly expensive well known maker of fine jewelry, I bought it from a very nice man on a beach in Spain, only cost 2.50β¬..was a real bargain π€π
Ah! I have a similar watch, sold to me by Mr Cartier in his shop in Bangkok market for $6. It still works, but the battery needs changing every 2 months. I won't wear that on Monday.
Oh now I am envious, I took mine to the jeweler's to have the battery changed & they refused to have anything to do with it, so I never got it working again after that, it was obvious they wasn't used working on fine jewelry. π€
I have heard that some supposedly "fine" jewellers will actually crush these expensive items, presumably because they're jealous they can't afford to stock such works of art. However, I have found that the small local keycutter/cobbler (his business is small, not him) will happily put a new battery in.
Monday for me, and itβs a pavlova, with just a small amount of cream, and mandarins in orange jelly as an alternative. As small amounts of alcohol go straight to my head, Iβll have and bring ginger beer. Ok? Could do with a good social occasion!
Hello
How nice finding out you are having surprise visitors you enjoy it
I am not fussy either day really I will go with what everyone else wants , it is not like I go out so will be about ( that end bit rymed then I could have a hidden talent )
What will I bring well myself and then after that I think I will bring a homemade carrot cake , sausage rolls , porkpie , a selection of crisps , coleslaw , salad ( as that is the only thing healthy the rest is obviously what I would like to eat but only at a virtual party am I allowed to )
I will bring some cherry brandy as well as tea bags for those as well as me that like a cuppa
Monday is good for me, will be bringing Mimosas, have found I have a liking for them! And some really good coffee.
A very indulgent trifle, lots of whipped cream. Some cheese scones I have a great recipe with chives, and banana walnut bread which is healthy!
Had a smile about the turbo mobility scooter, we had a friend who had a garage and his Dad had one, he went into the garage and tinkered with it and it went like the wind! They couldnβt hold him back!
Either day not fussed. Iβll bring my signature enormous Pavlova with cream and strawberries and raspberries that I make for family occasions. As a Diabetic I usually have to watch others eat it all but as itβs virtual all the Diabetics on here can tuck in.ππ₯³
I will join the Monday nibbles. I do two sweet treats. A summer pudding which is now too expensive to make and an apple cake. I have a Bramley apple tree which supplies hundreds of apples, except that this year they are all falling off the tree . I have had no decent rain for months. Yesterday there were thunderstorms, floods and as much as 50 mm nearby. My village got less than one mm. Every cloud, silver lining, I have not mowed the grass for ages. I do however have to mow the weeds.I reckon it is the driest place in the UK.
Can I come casually dressed or is it jacket and tie ?
I will attend with my pet cat Sooty Oscarthemagnificent
No I am pretty sure we qualify for the driest village in England. There is rain all around and we see the clouds but do we get any - course not. Yesterday am we had a deluge for a while but by yesterday it had all cleared and sunny again today. Now we are not allowed to water think that maybe that rain will keep us going for about a week. Watered like mad before the ban but garden too big to do much.
We donβt have a hose pipe ban as yet. Until recently our small water authority went for years with no restrictions. This year we had 58 consecutive dry days. Floods just a couple of miles away, nothing here. We sit on a divergence (or is it convergence) of two large rivers and that seems to deflect the clouds. Guaranteed the drought will end this Monday.
Good luck and I wish you steady rain to help your poor arid garden
Monday will be good for me as well, I will be bringing homemade olive bread with a homemade sweet nut spread, homemade oat cream with a huge amount of hand picked Blackberries. { have I said homemade smugly enough? }
The Bombay Sapphire Gin will be served direct from the freezer { portable } over crushed ice with bitters.
Thank you for the invite, now to think about an outfit, maybe my flared 70s safari suit { if I have time to let out the waistband a bit, donβt pretend you donβt know what Iβm talking about! }
Monday would also be better for me. A virtual tea makes my mouth water cos I can indulge in all sorts of things I cannot normally eat. How about a glass of cold drinking choc with choc ice cream and sprinkles with lashings of whipped cream served with a straw and a teaspoon? Alternatively if you would prefer could do a coffee one instead.Could also do lots of homemade apple cake cos the bumpers crop of apples are dropping like mad?
Will be at home cos3 weeks ago husband tripped on hard on our stone terrace, ambulance in middle of night, A&E, op to put a ball on the end of his broken femur, and discharged back home 5 days later. Not going anywhere expect trips to hospitals for him for various conditions. Such fun! Tell me a hospital with decent easy parking? There isnβt one round here.
Hi Michael! Either day fine for me. Fresh tuna salad and home made bread. Plus my signature lemon meringue pie! Oh and proseccoβ gallons of it! Jane.
I'll bring Pimms as have just had an enormous cucumber delivered by Tesco in my weekly shop.I'd like to reserve a seat by Bekind as thats my type of buffet!
I'll make a couple of quiches, veggie & meaty. Anyone need gluten free? X
Looks like Monday then. Starting time 2:00pm but setting up and firing up BBQ from 1:00.
Off to bed now. Been to ophthalmology, got blurred vision, a headache and an unpleasant dose of phantom pain! And to add insult to injury I had to wait over two and a half hours for transport home! βΉοΈ
The blurred vision with phantom pain sounds awful Michael as I assume you can't read or use the internet. I have heard some pretty negative comments about East of England ambulance service. The restructure was meant to resolve the issues but nothing much seems to have changed...
I won't like your post as it needs both a like and a sympathy vote! Take care! and sympathy emoji!
Part of the problem was I was in the next county. Despite ambulances from that county being parked up I have to be transported by ambulances from my home county. The guy who picked me up had to travel from the other side of the county! You couldn't make it up. If you ran a taxi company in the same way you would go under!
And yes I could not read so I just had to smile through the mask at the blurry nurses! π€£π€£π€£
I will bring some berries (great with feta) and not over sweet apples (great with a strong cheddar). Almost any fruit goes with Brie - I will be naughty π and order some with my next supermarket shop! π
Have I got the right day? I thought it was starting 2 pm today. Just parked my car and carried all my hampers of food across and can't seem to find anyone? You will recognise me as I am wearing a bright red Kaftan which I bought in case I accidentally lost one of my grandchildren. I am not good at directions!!!
