Recently a number of people have asked if I will be holding another virtual event. As I am now into "Learn to Walk Again - Part II" I am happy to do so. I was thinking of something around the August Bank Holiday in two weeks time. If you are interested please reply. I know Maisie2014 is, and in addition Lezzers and Prada47 like to hit the gin and rum respectively!

Virtual Tea Party/Barbeque
What does this involve?
Hello
I was really hoping someone else would have explained as I bet I will confuse you more
So basically Michael will put a post on saying it is a tea party and we all use our imaginations and pretend we are at a party and join in the post replying to each other
Also with it been virtual we can have all the drink and food we like because it is imaginary
We have a little banter and chat with each other on the post
A bit of light fun
I hope you may have been able to follow my explanation of what it is x
Iβll put it in the diary. π
Hello
As I am agoraphobic a virtual tea party would be something I could attend
So yes I would love to come
Thank you for cheering people up Michael and volunteering to do this much appreciated
Hope you are keeping well x
I have a new favourite tipple after my trip to Portugal.
White port and tonic with a slice of grapefruitπΈ
Any particular nibbles required?
Can boring people join, I only like tea β.
π Lily
You are not boring I like tea to so we can both have a nice cuppa x
Count me in, seems ages since we had a get together.Hope things are improving for you MichaelJR.
Pauline
Did someone mention gin??? Count me inπand there is absolutely no truth in the rumour that I have gin & rum in the same glass! Hic! π
And here she is at the first mention of gin......! How are you both keeping? See you at the party, guess you will be in the corner again? Xx
Thanks for the invite I defo will be attending. Theme for the day could be Alice in Wonderland's mad Hearties tea party. Am so looking forward to it. Best wishes.
Yes please Michael πΉPimms at the ready! Hope Part II is going well for you π€π½
I'd love to attend , love a virtual tea party π₯³
Great idea, thank you for the invitation, I will endeavour to join you all. Jane
Yes I would love to join you again, but can there be a bit more effort for us Vegans please.
Neither a celery stick with a stoned cherry on top, nor a lettuce leaf rolled around a pickled onion, count.
Will secretly be bringing gin disguised in a toilet bleach bottle { washed out of course } to hide from a certain member that may or may not have run off with the last one { Bombay Sapphire } I brought to the table at your last βtea party β
RSVP
Never attended one before, but might give this a go!! Just the smell of gin is enough incentive for me....and Michael, thanks to you for organising!Frances xx
Count me in. Hope you are feeling better Michael.π₯³
Yes please if I am able. May I celebrate with a cup of Earl Grey rooibos with almond milk? I might even go mad with a dark choc rice cake. How about that?
Not sure about bbq cos of the virtual sparks! Do we really want to set the world alight?
ππ thanks for invite and looking forward to it
I have never been to a virtual tea party, but it sounds like fun. I will bring my own veggie bangers and burgers!!!
Sounds good.
Yes please - first time attendee so hope I will behave (there is never a guarantee !!)
Hi, another " First Timer " so am looking forward to coming sounds like a lot of fun Thank you for the invite,
Can we expect a certain hearty to turn up with his pool. If yes count me in. Bags first dip.
As for eating/drinking I will have everything that I can't have now!
I'll be there! I'll bring scones, with butter, strawberry jam and Cornish clotted cream (in that order).
π± surely clotted cream then jam??
Absolutely not...
π± I'll bring my own!!π€£π€£
Tell you what. As I don't want to upset anyone, I'll bring all the bits separately, and you can then put them on any way you like. I believe there are some people who don't put butter on their scones - that's even worse than putting the jam and cream on the wrong way round!
I am in Hertfordshire and in a Hertfordshire Cream Tea it is a fruited scone, no butter, jam and then cream! The butter is in the scone!
You can never have enough butter - I lather croissants in the stuff as well.
That sounds like an ideal solution. Don't wish to rock the boat β΅ but will the scones be homemade, and preferably fruit??? Butter??? Really??? π±
Homemade and fruity. And extra butter.
But the scone falls apart when you try buttering it ππ
Only if the butter is frozen!
I like my butter very cold π€£π€£
Then don't have any. I suspect you're just trying to be difficult!
Well yes that's true, I excell at being difficult! but I truly do like really cold butter! Happy to share my gin with you as a penance for being difficult though π³ π€£
*sigh* I shall bring both very cold butter and not-so-cold butter, and then I should be delighted to have a glass of your gin, thank you.
An excellent compromise βΊοΈ in my defence for being difficult I will own up to being bored stiff!! I'm currently watching plaster drying which is only slightly more interesting then watching paint dry! I can't shut the windows until the plaster has dried so I'm confined to barracks ππ
The only way is???ππ
You cannot get clotted cream to spread like that on top of jam, its an impossibility!! You'll just end up with blobs of cream intermingled with blobs of jam, then the whole thing will crumble just as you're about to bite into it and it'll end up in your lap! You'll then have to look around furtively πto see if anyone has noticed. Much safer to put the jam on the cream βΊοΈ
Brilliant as long as its Hartleys jam!
Yes please πππ
Yes please Michael, fresh fruit salad, single cream and whiskey and ginger ale. Canβt wait to be with all other hearties!
Oh brilliant! Iβve recently been told one of my kidneys has packed in and the other is working half-cock. Just what I need on top of all the heart stuff.
Iβm planning on bringing all the food that is bad for me. Definitely olives, smoked salmon, loads of sausages and plenty of crisps.
How awful for you, Jenny. I'm now dealing with a brain tumour on top of my heart problems. At least, it's on top when I'm standing - they're level when I'm lying down!
I'm sorry to hear this Alison, I hope it's treatable in some way xx
Thanks, Lesley. It's non-cancerous and slow growing. I'm having a second head MRI next month to see how fast (or slow) the growth is, then "they" will decide where we go from here. It's grown in my inner ear canal, so I'm now almost deaf on that side, and that's permanent, whatever happens
Good to hear it's non- cancerous and slow growing but I'm sure you want it dealt with ASAP. Will a hearing aid be of any use & would removal/treatment stop your hearing loss from progressing? Xx
Audiology have given me a hearing aid, and they've tried several times to tweak it to improve my hearing, but the problem is that what hearing I have left is not just low level, but also distorted, so the hearing aid just increases the volume of the distortion, to the extent that it starts to affect the good hearing in the other ear! Audiology have now effectively given up on me.
Surgery/radiotherapy MIGHT stop the progression of the hearing loss, but it's effectively brain surgery, which brings with it a host of other risks (including total hearing loss, loss of balance and facial palsy) and a potentially very long (years) recovery time. I'm hoping my lodger hasn't grown, so that I can be left on Watch and Wait.
Sorry to hear this, is this due to your medication? I'll sit with you & help you out with all that food, particularly the crisps!!
Apparently I was born with wonky kidneys but it was only discovered this year. Hey ho. Glad to share my crisps with you, what is your favourite flavour?
I suppose it's one of those situations where you don't know something is wrong until its very wrong. Hopefully the dr's will have something in their bag of tricks that will help π€ ready salted is my favourite, definitely not good for hearts or kidneys!! Xx
Sounds like fun ... yes please. Shall I bring the rhubarb and ginger gin and lemon and blueberry sponge cake ... π
I was thinking a French stick , a selection of cheeses and a bottle of Beaujolais. If it's warn Burgundy might be to heavy?
I am now really looking forward to our party and just wondering what to wear! I have several wardrobes full of clothes in all sorts of shapes and colours and in many different sizes. Some people might consider me to be extremely lucky whereas others would describe me as an extreme hoarder! Before I retired every time I bought a new item of clothing I dragged out an old item and put it in the charity bag. This worked well at the time but now I have less income and love the charity shops, each time I visit I come home with at least 3 or four pre loved items and eventually have to use any money saved up to buy new extra wardrobes. I have just been looking at quite a large red kaftan which I bought in April. The advantage to wearing this is that I could put two or three smaller items in its place, plus the spillage of red wine, strawberry jam and fresh strawberries would not be noticeable. What is everyone else wearing?
So looking forward to your party this coming weekend. Is it planned for Saturday or Sunday and may we leave lists of whose bringing what online? Hope you are progressing with your walking, best wishes....πΆπΆββοΈ
