Recently Khartoum7 asked me to set another quiz. I agreed on the condition he dif so as well. Each will be 10 - 12 questions. Mine will appear at midday tomorrow and Khartkum7's day later. If a majority want a different time we will try to accommodate them.

Are these really appropriate for a Heart forum, surely if people want this sort of thing there are 100's of websites that offer them!?!

Getting so many now, maybe BHF should rename the forum!

After the start of the pandemic virtual meetups and quizzed were felt to be good for the pandemic. Many still feel nervous as despite the lifting of restrictions case numbers remain high. As a result they may remain in semi-isolation. If it makes people feel better and takes their mind off things for a while it can be no bad thing. As Milkfairy said you can just ignore the post. I would like to see a directory structure to the forum so we can separate the different areas.

I see the 'other' quizzes have disappeared, strange!

I’m not able to do the quizzes when you put them on but I do enjoy reading them and the replies. I like to see the people I recognise to be progressing well despite everything we’re all going through. Where else would you like to meet up with your “hearty pals” if not on here. Thanks Michael.

It's difficult to gauge the approval for this type of 'distraction' as we only have the opportunity to 'like' a post.

You can always report it as inappropriate.

Dear MichaelJH, I may not be baby Jesus’s brightest creation, but I think that rehabilitation take all sort of forms and this is one of them.

I think SheldonC /johnH100 has missed the power that we all possess, the great ‘ don’t open the post if you have nothing to contribute’ button.

I for one thank you {and a few others} to be able to pepper reams and reams of factual and worrying posts with a little light relief.

Take care

I'm into "classic" car restoration, my current project being a 1973 Mercedes 350 SE (W116), I did contemplate starting a thread on here about it.....but then I thought better of it as this is a forum relating to heart disease.I stuck to my normal MB forum.

I also have a keen interest in photography, I thought about sharing a post on here about it and discussing various aspects of photography and editing images....then I thought better of it as this is a forum relating to heart disease.

I stuck to my normal photographic forum.

Although quizzes arn't my bag I'm sure that there are great forums were you can enjoy the quizzes and have light hearted banter with fellow members.

I come on here to share experiences of heart disease and to learn from the experiences of others not to participate in quizzes or another "off topic" subject that someone chooses to hone in on.

That's my two penneth.

Have a great day everyone, I'm off to remove a starter motor.

Just to add, I'm not that "anti" quiz that I will stop using the forum, I just find it wrong in principle......the moderators will ultimately decide.

I like the quizzes but always miss seeing the answers so I never know if I was correct or not! 😀

I post them at the end. Have a look in 24 hours when Khartoum7 is posting a Bank Holiday one...

Perhaps an "Off Topic Chat" forum is the way forward as seen on other forums?

Good to be informed that you gifted when others may not be.

Dear All,

Yet again how sad that people taking the time out to do something for this community are criticised for not being purists {if such a thing exists for a public forum}

The reason that this forum {along with many other forums here on Healthunlocked}is so popular is the human input, without it there would be no forum.

Giving the opportunity to have a few off topic posts enables new and old members the time to remember that we are in fact hurting human beings, looking to others for support.

This human factor is extremely successful {hence how many members} and works, it certainly attracted me over others sites.

Sure I like everyone else enjoys and seeks out facts about their illness, but after you have plowed through facts and figures how nice is it to see that so and so has had a similar thing happen to them and how they got over it.

The human element.

Its nice to hear that those human are the same as you in many ways, so you like old cars and photography, now when you answer my questions I can see you as a person that has suffered as well.

Otherwise I might just as well join my loved ones and shout at a box in the middle of the lounge “Alexia why do I feel so ill”

I will wait for the day my hoover can answer me before I give up on fighting to be recognised as just a human being.

Take care

Good points well made.

Someone is chasing a 'Heart Star' me thinks.

My concern is where does it end once all of the OT threads start, also from what i've read there is a certain amount of hypocrisy from the poster who cries foul when others post OT threads, yet feels the same does not apply to him!

As for the Human element, isn't that the whole point, it's Human experiences of 'Heart related' conditions?!

As already said, leave it to HU admin to decide, guess if the quizzes stay, it becomes open house to discuss whatever anyone feels is appropriate to make it more 'human' to them 😉
