What is causing palpitations in early morning. It decreases shortly after changing position and focusing thought away from the beats. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about but I am just someone who likes to know reasons for something. This lets me forget about it. Thanks and regards

Palpitations
I'm the same. I seem to have an ectopic beat when I wake. I wonder if it is due to bisoprolol lowering my heart rate over night, but so far I have had a Cardio CT scan and a 24 hour ECG and am told everything is normal. I think I have to learn to live with it. I think as we become anxious we notice the heart rhythm much more. I'm told it is nothing to worry about... but I do.. but I'm not sure I can do anymore other than live with it as I have for the last 9 months. I hope you feel better soon, but I suppose we must trust the medical people. If in doubt badger your GP. A
Thanks bo120 . It is reassuring that someone else has palpitations and it's ok. .. part of the new me. Regards and take care
With the caveat that I’m not medically qualified and you should always discuss any symptoms or concerns with a professional. From what you’re describing, it sounds like it could potentially be ectopic beat(s). That’s the colloquial name for premature contractions. The belief is that almost everyone has them, it’s just the majority don’t notice having them; once we become aware of them, the body becomes primed. They can have a number of triggers, but for some people they’re positional: I have premature contractions from both my ventricles (PVCs) and my atria (PACs), and can reliably give myself PVCs by lying on my left side in bed or bending forward and down. I occasionally get woken by one and the subsequent palpitations if I turn onto my left side in my sleep. Unless happening extremely frequently, or you’re having PVCs in runs of three or more without a normal beat in between, for most people ectopics are benign in their own right, but you would need a doctor to confirm that’s what they are (via holter monitor) and that there’s definitely nothing of concern.
Charlie_G nail on the head I think, thank you. As you say, I’m not medically qualified, speak to your GP etc. I'm sat here tonight with a holter monitor on.. so hope to get answers soon, but I'm pretty sure what it is. Cheers. Enough about me hope Etblue can find some comfort in this. Speak to your GP, don't be hesitant.
Thanks for replying. It is positional and when I lie on my right half front. I don't think it's worth bothering the doc about, unless it becomes more frequent. Regards and take care
I get heart flutters if I drink more than one bottle of beer. It's enough to wake me up. Simple cure. Now I don't drink alcohol.Worth checking if it coincides with drinking alcohol.
Thanks, I am one of those people who has a glass of wine at Christmas. But, funnily we had been out for our wedding anniversary and I did have a small glass of red wine. Problem solved. Will still have a wee glass this coming Christmas. Lol..regards and have a peaceful day.
Good day! I have too specially when heart rate goes beyond 100, best advise i got is to keep your cardio informed as they are the experts. Hope you feel well
I’m hypothyroid & suffered palpitations for many years , every single day I used to get quite a few..My tip is as soon as you feel one coming on , sit down , concentrate on very deep breathing. It worked for me 99% of the time .. The funny thing is I’ve now got Myocarditis & the palpitations are very few & far between!! Very strange but I’m not complaining. Take care
