Hi all, I was diagnosed with low level ectopic beats after lots of tests and 24 hour holter monitoring. I have to say that some times they don’t feel very low level at all. Does anyone else have the same? Also, I had a flat white about an hour and a half ago and my ectopics are now every few minutes. Seem to be calming down a bit now. Never know when to contact gp as most times I do they tell me everything is fine etc etc. In need of a little bit of help

ectopic/palpitations
Hello I have had thousands of Ectopic beats in a 24 hr period, and I am still here to talk about them !! I was admitted to Hospital only once when every other Heart Beat was an Ectopic. It was felt my heart wasn't pumping enough blood out due to the constant run of them, but I do have Heart Failure with an ejection fraction of 38% so in my case that probably added to the reason for being Hopitalised. Since being on Entresto Ectopic beats have improved and I hardly ever notice them now.
Regards
sorry to jump on your thread but I’m suffering something similar and looking for help too. Having a holter monitor tomorrow for6 days.
I’m sure my palpitations are caused by food and drink so seeing you mention a latte gave me hope I’m not going crazy!
During a recent hospital stay I was able to give a time when they happened, so the doctor checked the readings from the bedside monitor but nothing showed up.
10 years ago after an echocardiogram I was told my heart doesn’t pump out as fast as it should but as it was only mild it was nothing to worry about.
Recently I’ve been having loads of palpitations one episode resulted in GP sending me straight to A&E but after the hospital stay and being given beta blockers they are less frequent.
Hoping the monitor will help find the cause, also waiting for another echo.
Hope you find some help and reassurance x
Hi, they can be scary, can’t they? I had 24 hr holter last May after being totally exhausted when walking. Nearly 20% ectopics, happening all the time. Fell in Feb this yr after blacking out, broke radius at wrist & elbow, a&e kept me in 4 days on heart monitor.
Finally got ablation in late May, now I can even walk up hills, with 98% oxygen Sat & regular h beat! The ectopics are not dangerous in themselves, but quality of life is severely impaired, Hope you get some progress soon. Liz
After a successful ablation for AF last October, I was very ill with covid in February which left me with lots of ectopics. I've been to A&E as they were so bad and they were recorded on a 7 day holter. I'veI been told they are nothing to worry about but they do knock me out. My EP has suggested beta blockers or dronedarone but my GP won't prescribe beta blockers as my resting heart rate is around 57 and also thinks I won't tolerate dronedarone. Currently the only course of action is to completely eliminate alcohol, caffeine, chocolate and red meat, keep stress levels down and no exertion. Good luck with finding a treatment that suits you.
I'd avoid caffeine-go decaf or give it up entirely. My arythmia nurse told me it's a common trigger and I certainly can't handle caffeine! Good luck.
I had ectopics years ago. It took a very long time to catch them on a monitor to see where they came from. I was assured they we re harmless and gradually they stopped as my anxiety reduced. I had nothing for many years until last October when I had 3 weeks which showed thousands in a few hours. That also stopped and the cause was supposedly found.
(suspected). Nothing then until last weekend when my heart rate went absolutely crazy and I ended up with 4 days in hospital hooked up to a machine. Once again told they are extrasystolic ectopics which means my heart is beating normally but also has all these extra beats in between the normal ones. Once again told they are harmless. They've stopped again now but anxiety or stress really can set them off.
