Palpitations and pain
Hello
I think it is very hard for anyone to say if this is something serious or not but I do think getting it checked out is the most sensible thing you can do x
As Hidden says, it is difficult to say very much. It really depends on so many things. One thing people would want to understand is what you mean by "discomfort". For example, is it a pain? How long does it last? Does it go away if you rest? Are you going up-hill, down hill or on the level? Obvs worth talking to a Dr, but also (given how difficult getting through to a Dr can be) try 111. They can force Drs into 12 hour referrals if the think necessary. Good luck.
All people describe health matters in different ways. What you describe as being a "thump" in your chest and some "discomfort", other might describe as feeling chest pain.
I too walk my dogs and I too, at times start to get a tightness and slight pain in my chest, in my case it is angina and I immediately use my GTN (Glyceryl Trinitrate Spray) which normally relieves this pain in only a few minutes.
You need to talk with your doctor about your problems and they might/should make you an appointment to see a specialist who might then do a scan and possibly even an angiogram (it doesn't hurt) and then if they see any closing of your hearts arteries, they might fit a stent(s).
On the other hand your GP might first of all do some blood tests to find out the condition of your blood and if necessary prescribe suitable medication.
Good luck with GP and let us know. I had palpitations twice this week but they have gone. Put myself back on fruesomide as ankles swelling. Take care x
It is probably an ectopic beat during which the ventricles are empty. This causes pain lasting a second or two.
It is unlikely to be angina from blocked arteries as that pain lasts longer. A blockage does not unblock and block in seconds.
