I've been suffering with palpitations and ectopic heartbeats for a few years now had lots of tests and all clear put down to anxiety. Yesterday while I was cooking dinner my heart went all weird I felt my pulse and it was all over the place not in rhythm. I left me so scared it lasted about 20 seconds then went back to normal. I've health anxiety linked to my heart so any sensation I get there I panic. Am on propranolol 10mg daily because I've a fear of medication I won't take more or anything else. Am 42 and over weight which I now is not good for heart health but because of my anxiety I hate the feeling of my heart racing so puts me off exercise am currently getting intensive CBT for my health anxiety and it was going really well until this happened. This morning I've had a couple of feelings in my throat that feel like my heart is pausing. Would be really grateful for some advice on what is happening to me am so terrified.

to help yourself, you need to concentrate on having a good diet (by which I mean fresh foods especially vegetables) and some exercise. CBT I’m sure will help. As for your immediate problem, that’s for a medical professional to look at in my view. You could phone 111 if you are in the UK.
I suffer the exact same as yourself. I have health anxiety especially when it comes to my heart. A couple of months ago while laid in bed reading a book, I got that same sensation in my neck and chest like my heart was pausing. Checked my pulse and could feel the pause every 5th beat. Went into full blown panic attack, called an ambulance who reassured me it was just my anxiety. The feeling returned with a vengeance 2 days later so took myself to a&e who said I suffered ectopic heartbeats. Still been told by 3 different doctors its due to my anxiety but its these feeling that then cause me to panic. Have been taking 40mg propanolol 1-3 times a day when needed since end of February. It's kind of helped but still had bad spells unfortunately.
Aw it's horrible thanks for replying I've been like this for years with it getting worse I did have a cardiology appointment Friday gone and they have now agreed to investigate. The first thing they are doing is putting me on a 2 week heart monitor so it's a start. I've asked for a loop monitor implant but they want to do the 2 week monitor first. Hopefully I find out what's causing this. They did mention if I was peri menopausal which I am and said lack of hormones can effect the heart so HRT is an option. Hope you get sorted I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy good luck.
