Red Skin Rash - Anyone Else ? - Meds ?

Hi, All,

A few weeks ago I noticed a red rash on my back which disappears on pressure?

I got to see a dermatologist who remains unsure and will monitor but his suspicion is a local eruption caused by my long term heart meds.

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced similar ?

I’m on Ramipril, Asprin and Atorvastatin.

I am taking the last Aspirin and Atorvastatin have been over a year and seemed to be ok

But we have had some Sun this last couple of weeks and so I have been out in the garden more and from my elbows down on my arms I came out in a red rash that I have never suffered with before

I am using diprobase but have not been out in the sun as much and it now seems to have gone down but it took nearly a week

I mentioned it to my Doctor and all the meds I take Atorvastatin is one that she thought with the sun could cause a rash so we are keeping an eye on it

So sorry to hear about your skin problems at lest you have a dermatologist on the case.

My skin has been the worse its ever been since all the meds and my Dr puts it down to them.

Its like being a teenager again! { except I was lucky and never had bad skin as a teenager} shame the rest of the body didn’t revert back.

So the Drs solution was to prescribe some cream that did nothing, and to be honest Im not too bothered { my days of vanity are well over }

The only rash I had that sounds similar to yours was on my legs, that seems to have disappeared by its self.

Take care, hope you get to the bottom of your problem, the sun is coming that may or may not help.

Pleased you have shared this problem. I get a very itchy red rash. Heat brings the rash on. Germolene takes the pain away.GP does not know what the rash is.

I am on Ramipril, atorvastin, Clopidogrel and bisoprolol. And vitamin D supplement and cetirizine.

But most effective relief is getting cold, eg washing the afflicted zones in cold water.

I also try to recall the discomfort of a stroke and open heart surgery, which puts itchy skin in to context.

Your heart meds keep you alive, or certainly maintain your quality of life. Your rash may be a just nuisance. That puts it into context. Are you willing to experiment with your heart meds on the off-chance it might be causing a rash? My somewhat jaundiced view of your dermatologist's diagnosis is he/she has no idea of what is wrong with you and is clutching at straws for a reason. My question would be why only on my back if it's drug related? And by way of example I have had a small rash on my ankle for ages, never gets bigger in area but really itches from time to time, and between the GP and now a dermatologist, I have been given several different creams and treatments, but nothing seems to clear it up or even get near it , so I just put up with it, but it certainly won't cause my demise.

Have you had the pandemic infection recently. I had a number of rashes post infection which the district nurse said was a post C*v*d rash.
