Hello :-)

I am no expert but normally if there was not a backlog I think you would have had them by now or any time now

I know that does not help having tests done is one thing but I think it is worse while we wait for the results

I would have hoped though that if they have a backlog they are prioritising them that those that need dealing with asp are so try and see that as a good sign

I feel your frustration and wish I could help more but if it were me I would still be phoning every week to ask how that backlog is progressing

Let us know when you find out :-) x

I had the last appointment before lock down, so I expected a never ending wait. In fact the consultant rang me the next day. It was very bad news. But the point is that, if there is urgent bad news you will hear within days. Hope this cheers you up a bit

Best wishes

Thank you .hope you are on the mend

Hi I had echo Easter weekend, checked with cardio diagnostic team to check if sent to cardiologist and they said yes at back end of last week. Rang secretary Monday left message, rang Tuesday and secretary said cardiologist has seen results (very taken aback she answered) she’d make him aware of ongoing symptoms but he’s away this week so will be next week before cN feedback, I will of course start chasing next Monday to leave a messAge at least.

I either have a hospital with no significant backlog or there is something wrong on my echo but not urgent or there is nothinG wrong and cardiologist is being very efficient.

No doubt you can guess which option I will be worrying about till next week!

What I have taken away from the advice of the lovely people on this site is the need to proactively pursue / push for our own diagnosis and Also learn as much as we can to support conversations when they happen. And to accept will worry but not to let it get the better of us (very difficult to do though).

It’s been invaluable that people take time out of their busy lives to provide support and comfort to complete strangers who happen to share similar experiences.

Hope You get results soon. Take care.

I have my annual echo scheduled for this afternoon at 3.45pm. My appointment with the consultant cardiologist to discuss the results is at 4.30pm. Clinics may run late, but this is definitely the way to do it and is how it happened last year, too.

I have once had to wait many weeks for detailed echo results, though the technician told me his report would be sent to the cardiologist the same day, which makes complete sense. They'd waste a lot of time if they had to write things up from stored data instead of doing it while their memories of what they saw while applying the probe are still fresh.

That is definitely the way to do it .I am also waiting on a perfusion scan .was told waiting list is at least 6 months

Hello Mariacat01

Your results should have been sent to your GP so you could ask them, or ask your GP to ask the hospital to send them the results. Hope this helps. My cardiologists’ secretary is very good and sends them to me.

Hi I checked with my go they haven't got them yet so I phoned the secretary who said there is a backlog and basically just wait till I get the results in the post !

Hi when I had an echo last winter the sonogropher said instead of doing 2 an hour they do only 1 now as they have to sanitize due to blooming covid.Doesnt take long to build up queues.

Chase them up. I had to wait over the Christmas holidays but still had my results by early Feb.

I am chasing the hospital every week .I get the same answer .I have to wait for the letter to come and they won't tell me anything over the phone

Can your GP not get things hurried up ? Most of my results g o to the GP and not to me. Then if there's nothing that needs treating, the GP doesn't even let me know which is frustrating because I don't even know if they've had the results.

Hi you can't get to see a gp .Best I get is a nurse who has put me on maximum strength of my tablets but I have checked and the gp hasn't got the results .

Do they not have a pharmacist? They would know more about dosages but why has it been increased ift hey don't yet have results?

Mariacat01 profile image
Mariacat01 in reply toQualipop

They have increased it because I was getting angina every morning so hopefully it will reduce the attacks

OK. That would have been done b y the pharmacist at my GP's. I hope you soon get some answers.

Hello, it is hard when you are waiting for tests. I am waiting for one as well and was told when I phoned, when we have an appointment we will send you one. The frustrating thing is they phoned a few weeks ago and said I could have the echo early on morning, but as I had covid could not go.Hope it won't be long before you get yours.
