Stress test results

hi all, I have now had my drug induced stress echo with contrast and the consultant told me there and then that I have a healthy happy heart. What a relief after months of random chest pains. She says I have angina and to carry on with bisoprol and aspirin and to carry a gtn spray with me. My anxiety has drifted away and I’m back to my normal self not worrying if I’m going to have a heart attack. The test itself was fine, it is pretty weird feeling your heart pounding in my back and head but I was reassured and felt safe all the while. I wouldn’t hesitate to have this test again if I ever needed to. I wish everyone on this site well and send you all good wishes and thanks for the support you give one another. Xxx

hi angina is not a condition in its own right, it is a symptomatic response to an underlying issue related to the heart.

Angina doesn’t occur unless there is an underlying cause. The underlying cause is what needs addressing.

What does she say is the underlying cause that leads to experiencing angina?

Or has your angina gone away when your anxiety reduced?

👍

We agreed it is probably stress related as at the time symptoms began I was worried about things going on in my life(losing someone close family health scare etc) Therefore worried about my heart too. My stress levels are at a minimum now especially as my tests were ok. So hopefully I can move on from this

That sounds positive, wish you well. I would recommend keeping an eye on other possible triggers if you get any angina again.

My angina is triggered by stress / anxiety but it’s not the cause of the angina. Physical exertion is the biggest trigger.

👍

I had mine Thursday. I was alright until my heart rate got to around 144bpm. Like you said, it was weird to feel my heart bashing away in my chest even though i was lying down. It only lasted for a few minutes before they brought it down again but it was a bit scary as even when i exercise I dont normally get much above 120bpm.

I was alright though, and have been ok since so no ill effects as far as Im aware and i think they got some good echo images.

All sounds very positive and put your mind at rest. It's amazing how worrying can make our physical symptoms worse . But good news makes you feel better.

I know having the diagnosis about my hole in the side of my heart I was born with on medication for PAF has stopped me worrying if me heart goes crackers I just relax and back to normal in few minutes. Also having my diagnosis of my rare hereditary neurological condition my life makes sense and having treatment. No cure but talking to others with the same condition means I am no longer alone and understand about it and why it happened.

Don't forget to use your angina spray and always have it with you .

I had 3 stress echos and was told all was fine within 14 months of my heart attack. I wish I had refused and insisted on an angiogram.
