Good evening, it’s me again looking for reassurance regarding what I can only describe as a clicking in the chest where the ribs have been wired. Keith said he felt it the first night he was home, he went to open a door and it was when he pushed the door handle down. He stills gets a click occasionally he says it’s not painful, is this something anyone else has experienced? Hope that makes sense! 😊🙏

Clicking in chest where ribs wired together
Hi Cibby,I am 10 months post x4 CABG. I used to have that clicking noise frequently but now extremely rare. My GP said it was a feature of the sternum knitting back together so will eventually go over time. Hope that helps.
Hi I had aortic valve replacement in December & occasionally get clicking noise in my ribs which was scary at first! My doctor says uts normal just my body readjusting, hope this is reassuring fir you
Hi,
I had this for quite a while after my AVR, and like you were quite concerned. However over two years down the line now and all gone. I still get some minor pain, especially after doing some heavy gardening etc.
I had it too for about 18 months. Your post reminded me of it, so hopefully his will go soon 🤞
Clicky sternum, the source of paranoia and 3am worry. All of the open Hart fraternity are gifted this marvelous sensation.
It does pass, but it's a worrieing part of our converlssence.
It's our bodies saying don't reach out or pick up weights or in your husband's case open that particular door.
The wires and sternum do knit, but it takes time.
Basically it's his skeleton saying slow down Pal you ain't right yet, tell him to listen to it I know that he wants to be back to normal yesterday or even last week but it's a slowish part of our recovery.
It will pass, in fact I can remember being quite nervous when I realized that it hadn't happened for a couple of weeks.
Now it's been three months since my last click. And yesterday I was cutting down trees with a husky chainsaw.
All the best.
Dear Cibby21
Join the clicking club ! I just get the odd one now seven months on, sort of miss it if I honest, but don’t mind me I was odd before the heart matter………….
