Does anyone else have worsening or new joint pain since being on apixiban? I started in January and so stopped anti inflammatory drugs but this is debilitating pain and in joints other than those I took painkillers for. I would welcome advice. Side effects speak of bleeding and rash, can’t find anything on joint pain

Apixiban and joint pain, is there a link?
Thank you for your reply. I’m glad to hear you had same , obviously not wishing you pain, and found a solution. I just thought my arthritis had gone from average to severe over the course of a few weeks. I shall be on to my GP on Monday. Her solution was to give me oromorph! I tried it but didn’t really do a lot but make me extremely tired. I’ll flush that now. Many thanks. Take care ❤️
I take apixaban and haven't noticed any adverse side effects to date. I was put on it as I had bad side effects with aspirin from the start. It sounds to me as though apixaban simply does not suit you. As with aspirin for me, I think our systems react with poor tolerance very quickly. Personally, I don't think oramorph, or any other drug to mask adverse side effects, is a good solution for medication intolerance when alternatives are available. I think you should indeed pursue a change with your GP. You might need to go back to your consultant if s/he hasn't specified an alternative for your GP to prescribe, possibly because apixaban is generally thought to be well tolerated by most people and a modern alternative to warfarin. The GP could be limited by the consultant's medication advice.
Nonetheless, options are out there. It may be a case of trial and error but I think you'd be wise to ask for a different anti-coagulant until you find one that suits you.
Thank you for your reply. Will ring GP on Monday for sure. Have gd weekend
