Completed Lands End to John O Groats

I had an ablation for atrial flutter almost twelve months ago and haven’t had any arrhythmia since.

In an effort to make sure I remain fit I embarked on a virtual walk from Lands End to John O Groats. It’s taken me ten months but I completed the 1084 miles on Friday lunchtime.

To celebrate we have had a Chinese takeaway this evening!

Just goes to show, ablations can and do work. Never give up.

Next virtual walk will be Hadrian’s Wall. For anyone interested, there are a couple of companies who do virtual walks. The one I use is called The Conqueror Challenges. Great fun and a real incentive to get outdoors.

Unfortunately my kidneys have decided to play silly so and so’s. CT scan tomorrow. Hey ho.

I thought you might have finished by now with all the running you do. Thanks for introducing us to the walks, my husband’s medal hoard is rattling. He was a bit disappointed that Street View doesn’t cover the whole of Kilimanjaro!

Its amazing how different we all are! If I walk from my front room to my kitchen without angina it's a good day for me!!!

I'm sorry you have so much difficulty and hope things will improve for you.

I must admit I have days when I feel like one of those Venn diagrams, you know the one where all the circles overlap, and I'm the little dot in the middle who's had a bit of everything. On the whole though I feel very blessed to live at a time when there is so much help available.

Well done, fantastic idea!

Dear spinningjenny

Well done with your virtual walk , what is this please? [ sorry sometimes I’m young minded other times I’m like a dinosaur]

Fantastic that you could complete this after your heart procedure, 12 months is not that long ago.

Good luck with your other problem , my thoughts are with you

I am also a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to technology but if you Google the conqueror.events you will find all the available challenges. You can walk, run, cycle do them anyway you want, I’ve even come across someone who was doing it on horseback. Most of the walks are a lot shorter than the one I’ve just completed unless you fancy doing Route 66 which I suspect would take years!

They link up with Google maps so you can plot your progress, mostly they also link to street view which is quite interesting, I once came across a car in a ditch and spent one night next to a sewage works. Hope you do one, have fun x

How did this ever pass me by? What a fantastic idea , just working out where I want to go, { and to be honest what winning medal will match my jumper } and I will sign the dotted line.

Thanks so much for now, will I thank you at the end? Lol who knows

Well done... that's an excellent achievement. My wife did a virtual walk along Hadrian's Wall last year - it certainly got her out the house and she actually enjoyed the challenge.

I'm a bit old fashioned and have been doing it in miles. The gym reopening made a big difference, it took my daily average up to 3.5miles. Not lost much weight though, there's a cafe part way round my usual walk!
