I had a HA and an ICD fitted . I have travel insurance as part of my bank account. I called them and gave them all the info and they were happy to add it on at no extra cost.

Hello Jean9

First I’m glad that you are becoming well enough to be thinking of travelling, and I hope that travel is taking you somewhere nice.

I second Hoocher as I have a bank card [ Lloyds ] that covers travel insurance along with other things , they were happy to put my condition onto file and I was covered for it without extra payment.

Wherever you go for your insurance you must be honest and tell them everything, your heart dept can list all its technical terms for you.

Good luck and I hope a safe trip for you.

I also have cover with Lloyds. They quoted an additional sum to provide cover for my condition, but said I could get that cheaper elsewhere. After finding nothing else I rang back and this time they went through a longer questionnaire then said they couldn't cover me.

My planned holiday is the most relaxing possible, a cruise with no flying, but they will only quote based on a year's cover with no consideration of actual travel involved.

As far as I know they are still covering me for general risks and I have informed them of my condition, even if they've said they won't cover that.

I have just booked to go to Switzerland in June and sought my insurance through Staysure. My heart problems are slightly different to yours so I listed them as heart failure. Don't forget that travel companies these days offer lots of assistance to travellers at no extra cost. You also need to make sure you tell security that you have a pacemaker fitted so that you go through a different channel.

Enjoy your trip.
